When has he not been on the move? He won't be there long either.

That will probably be determined by his wife.  I think she teaches in Dickson County.  She is a long time basketball coach.  With Parker doing some AD duties, he may hire her as a basketball coach :thumb:.  I am assuming they are going to move closer to PJP II. Pretty sure PJP II is paying him well as well.  Probably more than any public school can pay him. Also, most private schools let children of teachers/coaches go to school free or a very reasonable fee.

Thanks for the update coach! Glad you decided to go to the dark side, ya know, the private school ranks that you railed against for years. ðŸ‘ðŸ»

As the headmaster or athletic director at Pope John Paul II you would have to question why Coach Parker never stays in one place very long.  As an outsider looking in I have some serious reservations regarding Coach Parker and his loyalty to anything other than himself.  Not throwing rocks at a glass house but his record speaks volumes as to where his loyalty lies.  JPII is a solid baseball program that needs someone that has the ability, drive & loyalty to take them to the next level.  IMO, this person must not only be a great baseball coach but they also should be very involved in the Catholic community.  Not that it is a requirement for the job but is Coach Parker a practicing Catholic?  From it's inception JPII has a history of trying to be a "private school" for the Sumner County area and not a "Catholic" school.  For the school to thrive that philosophy must change immediately and it begins with hiring Catholics to serve in leadership positions.

The real question is why the JP2 position became available in the first place.  Coach Michael Brown was essentially terminated and is not leaving on his terms.  Michael is a good and godly man, excellent baseball coach (2x TBCA Coach of the Year) and devout Catholic.  His teams have posted 6 consecutive 20 win seasons and is 1 series win away from returning to the Final Four.

Boy there's alot of complaining going on about this hire. I believe firmly that this was a solid hire. Coach Brown did a great job with the program there is no doubt about that. A different voice and mindset will be good for this program. Give the man a chance. Coach Parker has improved every program he's been at.

My comments were not directed at the new coach, rather why the move was made to replace the current coach.  Change for the sake of change is not always a good thing.

Why was he fired?  He has won there and turned them into a state tournament team each season. Kinda strange to me,  but that school has never really had stability since has been built. 3 Headmasters 5 Athletic Directors 4 Football Coaches, 4 Girls BBall Coaches, Now 4 Boys BBall Coaches, Now 3 Baseball Coaches, Softball has been the only constant since 2003.

    • Ouch! If he's in the scrap business maybe
    • That's a nice story but has little to nothing to do with what we're talking about.
    • The winds of change are blowing in Hartsville.     Will be an interesting follow.    Would go back to the 90s and turn black the clock!
    • Did he promise you a coordinator job or something if he ever got a head coaching job? He resigned? He was at the top of the dugout last night calling plays. I wonder if those 30+ parents would let him give their kids a ride. by the way the board meeting was last night and it was not mentioned. must have been at the work session earlier this week which is not public. must be trying to keep it quiet.  Since you know so much, how much is Robbie Atwood willing to pay Adam Cothron?  Didn't you slander Eden earlier on here? You also didn't know he was a faculty coach again so how much do you really know? Some people outside this county baffle me with their need to slander others.
    • He resigned smh, and have you ever heard of charged but not convicted. Some people in this county baffle me with their need to slander others. Have you asked any of the 30+ parents that signed a petition to get him reinstated at the board meeting this week how they feel about this? Just let it play out, at the end of the day the only people that will bring TC back are the ones that know what its about at its core.    People hate losing and they aren't used to it at TC. I for 1, and I'm sure others too, understand having a dip in talent and not being able to compete for a state title every year. But in the past, TC teams have outworked more talented teams, they didn't continuously lose the turnover battle, they didn't commit 8+ penalties in several games each season, and I believe several of the folks in town that want Blake out feel as if he is neglecting the history of the program. This is from a source that used to be extremely close to the program (not me lol), Blake gets out of school midday and the players show up and there is no practice plan or itinerary.  I also understand those that are on team Blake, when he has loads of talent, he wins. He does know football and he is a tremendous DC, and if the rumors are true then he will do great things. As for the board member issue, it is what it is, everyone that's true to the county know that and nothing has changed. I agree though that they should strive to make the facilities as good as we can. And as far as potential candidates, I agree there is very few options. West, Vetetoe (yes I know), and couple others that could have some interest. Whatever happens is massive for the program during a pivotal time before the next big wave of stars make their way through.
