My buddies at Herb's are telling me there may be a hole in the fence out there and one may have slipped through it.

That fence is 40 years old. Who is related to someone on the school board that has a fence company? Every Blount County school has a maximum security fence all the way around the whole campus. I went to Chadwick's Churn ice cream shop in Friendsville the other day and thought I'd stop by the old Friendsville High School stadium. That place was locked up tight. The problem is, it gives a false sense of security and patrol deputies can't get anywhere near the building.

What's even worse are some of these new schools look like prisons. The Heritage and William Blount Schools are beautiful buildings but most of the new schools of late remind me of a state correctional school or a FEMA camp.

I really feel for you and hate it for your coaches that have worked hard then when you have a good crop of kids coming up the parents of those kids get a wild hair and change junior to another school.fueled by false hopes the grass is greener on the other side.

It happens all the time though. At every school. Parents build their child up so high, hire private coaches, if you pay someone enough money they'll tell you what you want to hear. Make the athlete believe he should be a starter.

Yesterday Heritage lost a great fan, supporter, former assistant coach, Principal, VFL member off the 1969 team and one of the best players Blount County has ever had from the old Walland High. We will miss Benny Dalton very badly. RIP
