Michigan/Oakland HS Football camp

Recommended Posts

What do you think about the big Blue, Michigan not TSU, coming to Oakland HS for one of those satellite camps that were banned then OK'd later?  Bet if Oakland didn't have the #22 prospect and another good football player, if Coach Harbaugh would make Rutherford one of his stops.  Maybe he wants to check out the $ trail and see how it can be implemented for college coaches.  Oh snap, they already have that, it's called a slush fun for recruits/coaches.  Maybe he will give pointers on how to cover it up...AKA, don't use cell phones for calling /texting that can be traced.  Wonder how long this has been going on?  What is the statue of limitations for this?

Man ... Michigan putting on a satellite camp at Oakland is awesome. Freaking awesome! I would expect that Whitehaven and other Memphis Area schools will probably ante-up and get several chartered busses and invade Murfreesboro on June 14th. I can see Whitehaven, Trezevant, White Station, Memphis East, Cordova, Mitchell, and a few others all coming together to get as many players up there as possible. That would be awesome to see three or four chartered busses from Memphis roll up on Oakland's campus chock full of Memphis High School football players going to the University of Michigan's satellite camp. I can see that!

Ever stop to consider that maybe with the amount of talent this state had been putting out as of late that it would be a good idea to establish some connections in the midstate. Hopefully Middle and Vandy join them

Yankees need to stay in their lane. I hear there's a lot of talent in Canada. It would even save on travel costs. It would be a win-win for Michigan.

Canada doesn't have those southern bred athletes. You have to come to the south for those. Michigan is on to something and the SEC knows it. Coach Harbaugh knows where to go to get speed. He's letting all of the speedsters from Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, etc. know that Big Blue is an option to consider. Who wouldn't want to go play for a coach of that caliber who is actively seeking guys with innovative ways of recruiting? Man ... he's only been at Michigan for one year and you can see the difference in that team already. Quite frankly, I think it is good for college football when Ohio State and Michigan are both powerful programs. It is just a matter of time before Michigan wins another national championship with him at the helm. If coach Harbaugh came a knocking at my door, I know I'm listening.

I think Govs forgot to use some italics.

I know it was tongue-in-cheek. I also like it when a coach of a major university shakes things up a bit. Coach Harbaugh definitely has done that. He won the sprimg with that move alone.

The HS talent in Tennessee is getting better by the year, particularly in the rapidly growing midstate. I foresee many college coaches from other areas to begin looking harder at the Nashville area just like they already do Memphis. This will be the norm within 10 years.

I think it has always been here, it is just getting noticed more now. Back 20 years ago, some of these athletes look just the same.

    • From my understanding, Jay Graham pretty much took over HC responsibilities in that game, so you can thank him. Cute Andy didn’t need help, though. Cute Andy could’ve beaten us without any assistant coaches.
    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
