What are we looking like? What can we possibly expect from our offense and defense...

The DB faithful generally feel that after last year's train wreck there is no way to go but up.   Nobody expects DB to be at the top (hint: that could be, um let's see, Maryville??) but the tribe should get a few more league wins than last year.

I would say that sounds about right.    On another thread I stated that overall I don't think R16A will be as strong as last year, so if DB has improved then that definitely gives them an edge for a few more W's.      In the end, though, once the playoffs start it is going to be hard to get past middle TN.

60 DAYS to Season Opener vs TN High.

Everything starts with a returning Sr. QB - which is much better than where the season started last year.... a QB with no game experience starting opening game. #6 Maupin is a tough, hard nosed competitor. Most all defense is back - veteran LB's and DB's Corps. Upfront will be improved both sides of the ball. Gotta find a tailback or 2. Will have a new kicker. Band is going to be a dandy.

60 DAYS to Season Opener vs TN High.

In order to win against the big boys of 6A, I think it is important for DB to not only beat the Vikings but to demolish them.      This needs to be the kind of thumping that says "DB is back".    Sorry TN High fans, but unless you have  done some heavy recruiting since last year I don't see you having a chance in this opener.

I've heard more than one person state, you guys need to find a RB or two.  With that said, how is your receiving corp looking?  WRs senors or do you have any rising juniors or sophomores that are expected to be players at some point?  I can't remember, do you guys throw to a TE?  If so, do you have any in the system that are promising?

I can't wait for the season to get going.

We demolished them last year but it didn't translate into a successful season.  The win is more important than the margin.  We need to focus on getting better each week.

Yep 45-14 last year.       You are not going to have any problem with TH this year.     The real test will be the next game....

started putting in a play or 2 for TE last season. Carter Holt is a promising TE with great size. Very good athlete and a good kid

" This " is one of the first  things I've seen in a long time that is dead on.I told someone two years ago that this young man could walk on at the next level as a TE,even if DB couldn't figure that out .Several other things needed to be done.AD,top strength coach for the whole DB athletes program and a couple more things.Well, DB got a new AD to try and bring the middle schools along with what DB is doing and they are getting ready to take care of strength coach .These hires will tell everyone in the state how important football is to Kingsport. Will the AD and powers that be, put DB in line with the top football programs ? Every move will let everyone know that answer from today on.As for myself,I hope  for the kids coming up ,that the last 10 plus years in the playoffs can be a forgotten memory and DB has the right staff in place to keep every kid that could make a difference on Friday night or even Saturday night, interested and wanting to play for the Tribe.

Do you think the average DB fan would rather go back to playing all the local Tri-cities teams and ending up 10-0, maybe 9-1, every year?      Versus playing all 6A schools....      Now I'm not saying it is a good idea for DB's program to play all local cupcakes, but I'm asking if the average fan would rather have the easy wins than not?

Looks like you're trying to put forth the notion that the only time DB has ended up 10-0 or 9-1 is when they played against local cupcake teams. Can you tell us when it was that DB played "all the local Tri-Cities teams? Local cupcakes? I'm not going to waste any time checking the exact stats but I believe that DB had more 10-0 and 9-1 seasons when they played in the Big East conference which consisted of Knoxville and Chattanooga teams as well as out of conference Oak Ridge. During those years I believe the local Tri-Cities teams were South, Tennessee High and Science Hill. Not exactly cupcakes. What has happened to DB football is the loss of Darrell Watson as defensive coordinator, very poor coaching at the middle school level and possibly the worst AD in the history of mankind.. Everything else is just fine. Time will tell if it can/will be fixed.

    • Did he promise you a coordinator job or something if he ever got a head coaching job? He resigned? He was at the top of the dugout last night calling plays. I wonder if those 30+ parents would let him give their kids a ride. by the way the board meeting was last night and it was not mentioned. must have been at the work session earlier this week which is not public. must be trying to keep it quiet.  Since you know so much, how much is Robbie Atwood willing to pay Adam Cothron?  Didn't you slander Eden earlier on here? You also didn't know he was a faculty coach again so how much do you really know? Some people outside this county baffle me with their need to slander others.
    • He resigned smh, and have you ever heard of charged but not convicted. Some people in this county baffle me with their need to slander others. Have you asked any of the 30+ parents that signed a petition to get him reinstated at the board meeting this week how they feel about this? Just let it play out, at the end of the day the only people that will bring TC back are the ones that know what its about at its core.    People hate losing and they aren't used to it at TC. I for 1, and I'm sure others too, understand having a dip in talent and not being able to compete for a state title every year. But in the past, TC teams have outworked more talented teams, they didn't continuously lose the turnover battle, they didn't commit 8+ penalties in several games each season, and I believe several of the folks in town that want Blake out feel as if he is neglecting the history of the program. This is from a source that used to be extremely close to the program (not me lol), Blake gets out of school midday and the players show up and there is no practice plan or itinerary.  I also understand those that are on team Blake, when he has loads of talent, he wins. He does know football and he is a tremendous DC, and if the rumors are true then he will do great things. As for the board member issue, it is what it is, everyone that's true to the county know that and nothing has changed. I agree though that they should strive to make the facilities as good as we can. And as far as potential candidates, I agree there is very few options. West, Vetetoe (yes I know), and couple others that could have some interest. Whatever happens is massive for the program during a pivotal time before the next big wave of stars make their way through.
    • McKenzie had no trouble with Huntingdon.
    • Has BA landed any cornfed cowboys to block up front?
    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
