Speculation is if T$$AA try to put us in Region 1(like they tried once before), then we might move up to 2A...Personally idk how it will look...considering past memberships approvals over the last year for a handful of new schools, mainly west of Nashville, are going to be added to the ranks of 1A. Everybody's 20th day enrollment numbers should be in by the first part of September...I'm guessing we should know by mid-October what the new classification cycle will look like for the next 2-4 years.

So to add to this discussion and of where the "cutoff" between 1A & 2A might come here is the teams between 375-425, going off numbers which are from the 2015 school  year.

Currently 2A: (12)  425-401 Enrollment

East Robertson - 423

North Greene - 418

Halls - 416

Wartburg - 416

Eagleville - 414

Westwood - 413

Watertown - 411

McKenzie - 410

Oakhaven - 408

Cosby - 405

Hampton - 405

Oliver Springs - 402

Currently 1A: (11)  399-375 Enrollment

Houston County - 399

Booker T. Washington - 399

Summertown - 398

Peabody - 395

Oneida - 393

Middle TN Christian - 385.2**

Jellico - 384

KIPP Memphis - 381

Trousdale County - 380

Columbia Academy - 379.8**

Dresden - 375

** Private schools

This should give those teams that are on the borderline of the 1A/2A cut off an idea of where you may stand after they do some realignment.

I think 300 is a fair number for 1A.IMO.Not many on the East side have 400 to choose from in 1A.Oneida may be the only one close to that number.Big difference in 200 to 400 kids not so much after those numbers.

By my numbers from the '15 school year exactly 30 teams had Enrollment at 299 or below. 2 of those teams was private so I think if you raise that number to just over 300, maybe around 325 then you could be onto something!

Edit: That puts the school # at 34 if you include Enrollment up to 325 students. 29 if you go 299 and under.

Lower the enrollment means also less teams in the playoffs for that classification. If the T$$AA can do it and still make money they will. It may result in ticket prices increasing to make up he difference, or school membership fees increasing. Is that what we want for some of the smaller schools that can barely afford equipment? Maybe they could stagger the ticket prices based on classification. I'm not for my theory, but I just don't see the T$$AA risking the loss of money.

With so many schools moving to DII in 2017, hopefully they will expand the classes on that side, to compensate. Rather than water down the DI playoffs with teams that go 2 and 8 for the season. They could increase ticket prices by $1 per round, as well. Fans of the more successful programs will pay that extra dollar. Just a thought.

    • Yep..could possibly have 3 teams ranked in top ten in the same four team district.
    • He had an opportunity to be the OC at TC without final say in the offensive gameplan. How does that work? Smh. Head Coaches are public figures regardless of the community size, and yes there are some out there, it’s irrelevant and not fair to them to name them on here. Also why is said “head coach” the head coach of the MS baseball program to begin with? Oh because no one wants it. As for the Lebanon question, I know what I’ve been told so just going off here say, some of the boosters were not happy with his roster decisions and wanted him out. Although he lead them to 20+ wins in multiple seasons
    • A head coach in the school system? No I dont think so. Head coaches are public figures in small communities. Not trying to slander, but this is an actual question. Do you know why he was forced to resign at Lebanon? This was his second chance.  He already left trousdale once and had an opportunity to come back a couple of years ago but spoiled that.
    • Are you perfect? Nope no one is, at the end of the day there are several teachers/coaches and even some in the Trousdale County school system that have DUI’s on their record. You’re correct on it being a bad mistake and it unfortunately could have ended horribly. While you consider the consequences minimal, I can assure you they are not. Ultimately I hope and have faith that he will learn from it and use it to better himself.
