2017 Enrollment Numbers and Classifications

Any idea where the cutoff will be for each classification? Can we assume 1A and 2A will have less than 45 teams in each classification?

There's no set enrollment cutoff number. All 6 classes will be divided evenly. Indian said he counted 191 teams. I'm thinking around 48 per class or so.

Edit: Indian counted 291

Who is "they" ?

Won't know for sure till the Oct 14 deadline for schools that opt to go or stay DII.

After that the privates that stay DI will have their enrollment multiplied by 1.8.

Then the TSSAA will divide the DI teams evenly across 6 classifications.

The TSSAA

That's not from the TSSAA so its not official.  There very well could be 50 teams per class but we won't know that until Oct 14. That's the deadline for teams opting to go DII or DI.  If we don't know how many schools are playing DI then we really don't know how many are in each class.

Now for DII they already have the enrollment break points set. DII schools will not be divided equally among their 3 classifications.  DII A enrollment is 1-265.  DII AA is 266-530. DII AAA is 531 and above.

You're right....I know this summer they decided to have 50 but you are correct it has changed to them distributing D1 evenly....As of right now there are 311 schools in D1 if you go by the classifications for this year, however, that is including the independent schools...so lets say that all of the 311 stay, that will end up being 51.8 schools per classification so lets just say 52....TSSAA is predicting about 16 of the 24 independent schools to change over to DII, so lets say that 16 switch to D2, then that is 295 total, which is about 49-50 schools per classification....but then there is also a couple of schools that will be starting to play football...so i would say 50 per classification is a pretty good estimate...

looking at the current enrollment numbers what 5A teams make the jump to 6A in yalls opinion or too early to tell?

Too early to tell at the moment. If you want a place to start here's a link of the last enrollment count before this one. A rough estimate would be the next 16-18 largest in 5A from this list.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
