What is with all the hate with Maryville? If middle Tn fans doesn't think Maryville is that good, than beat them when the time gets here year after after. If middle Tn fans think Oakland or whoever should be 1 in the poll or before Maryville, than beat them when the playoffs gets here.

Everyone can complain all they want when it comes to Maryville, but until one of the Middle Tn teams beats them, they have no right to complain. Just beat them if you want to knock the best off the top!

You can go by strength of schedule of you want to. I am willing to bet, if Maryville was in Oaklands region, they'd still be playing a west team in the state. Still be 10-0. Even tho I like Maryville and think they're the best in the state, it does get old. They're the Bama in college football. Until you can beat them, they're and should be number 1-2 in 6A polls. Always between Maryville and a west team.

Envy is the evil twin of hate. This cat is eaten plum up with it. Man we have 16 Gold Balls in the endzone genius , we dont give a dang about your polls. I watched a couple of your oakland players dance around our guys in the endzone during pregame like a couple of idiots. Your coach shouldnt have let that go on bit he we consider the freaking source. I dont remember what the polls said last year before that game but I remember what the scoreboard read after it. Go take a pill chump. Da Champs this is not to you. Edited by GREYRIDERx

Last I checked Maryville lost last year so by your logic just because they won 2 years ago they should be ranked 1? Each year should be ranked independently of the prior year and this is the biggest problem with high school rankings. If they used a system that made sense based upon points scored, defense and total yardage and strength of schedule then it would be something to talk about. Placing Maryville at the top by East Tennessee sports writers is totally bias. Every year should be a stand alone year and if it was then the stats speak for themselves.

Win your final game and you will come out the gate ranked #1

Here is a little knowledge on how the Tennessee AP rankings work. All AP sports writers in Tennessee can vote for the AP High School Poll but only 30% of them do and most of them are in East Tennessee. Sports writers in Tennessee don't vote because there is no criteria for the vote other than popularity. Most other states use a system similar to the NCAA which has a structured criteria for the poll. To give you a real example of a poll here is the current M Preps poll for Tennessee based on criteria, not popularity...

Yea sorta like how last year at the end of the season the same m prep polls had Memphis East still ranked ahead of Pearl Cohn even after PC went to Memphis East in the semis and won 27 to 14. That same poll had Maryville ranked ahead of Ravenwood even after Ravenwood won in the championship. Yea they Makes alot of since......It sounds like you need to be doing some work and getting more of your sports writers to actually vote since all the votes are coming from East Tn

I work for M Preps so I don't know where your getting your polls from. The final 3 weeks of last season we had Ravenwood ranked about Maryville. The only week they were higher was the week before the playoffs started.

    • Ah, more Coach Ham bashing. There seems to be a club, so tell us, are you the VP, Chairman?  From the stories I've heard from his past players themselves Coach Ham is one of a kind and has literally worked himself to the bone year after year at every coaching stop. His legacy isn't Ws and Ls.  So give it a rest. It may be old school cliché, but could you even walk a mile in his shoes? The man has retired from coaching, let him be. Even on these measily message boards.
    • Evans-Collins got a lot of play over the years.  Several junior high teams and the youth leagues played there in my day.

    • Yeah, I’ve seen it cause issues too. I read in a newspaper that he was just going to teach, so I assumed it was at CRHS. Maybe I misunderstood. Are there any guys on his staff ready to take it over?
