District 7A

Early in the season but what are everyone's thoughts? Clay has to be the clear cut favorite for the district and region lead by Key. They trounced Van Buren at VB by almost 30. Key is averaging 40+ppg and doesn't show any signs of slowing.

I think 2-5 is a toss up. Monterey got some good transfers and have shown some promise. Even though PC and JC are down they are always in the mix. Clarkrange only lost to Monterey by 1 so I feel 2-5 are close.

I watched Clay vs RBS the other night.  No one can match up against Key however this team will miss the presence of Mabry in the middle.  I don't think they are as good as they were last year at this point in the season but they are still the best team in 7A.  I'm with you on 2-5 and a really good team will be sitting home during the region tournament.

I agree. Lack of size will hurt them even more if they make it to the glass house.

However Clay beat a talented and tall Wayne County KY team in Monticello tonight. Key had 44 or something again.

Agreed that Clay is the best but Pickett County hasn't lost to  an "A" team. They lost to LA by 3 and beat unbeaten Stone Memorial 80-69 after leading by 20. Clarkrange lost to them. Jackson Co is what, about 1-5?

JC won their 2nd game of the season but they have talent, this is not a bad team and i look for them to make some noise come tourney time.  PC will lose to Clay County this year in Celina, now in Byrdstown i'm not so sure but i am sure that i'll be there to watch it since i no longer coach.  Lots of free time!! haha

I would agree. PC is an extremely hard place to play along with c-range. However I don't feel anyone in the district and region will touch Clay this year at either gym. Clay has two strong road wins in VB and Wayne County, KY so they know how it feels to win in hostile territory.

If Key continues to average 40+ppg then it will be hard for any 7A team to get close. Either way I feel Coach Aaron has a good thing going up in PC currently but think the loss of offense in the Ferrall kid and graduated seniors hurts PC when going against an offense like CC and the defensive pressure that they bring for the entire game.

Granted RBS isn't that good but it was like 70-15 at halftime last night with the final being 101-37. Key had 37 or 40 in practically two quarters of work.

Aaron is not coaching PC. Quit 2 weeks before season started. Joseph Ammonette is coaching this year.

  • 2 weeks later...

I said earlier this week in the 8AA thread that I thought Macon would get there first real test tonight against Clay. I hope I can make the Clay vs Pickett game Jan 17th that may be a decent game.

It was a good game going back and fourth. Macon lead by as much as 10 in the 2nd quarter and Clay lead by as much as 13 in the 4th. Macon hit like 3-4 3s in a row inside 2 mins to make it interesting. Tyreke was too much to handle and was 2 missed free throws from hitting 50.

    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
