Yeah, The Facilities aren't bad when considering most teams that aren't from the area uses other area teams facilities or they do a lot at their hotels... the restoom, concession and press box thing is you being overly critical and that's your right but I know how far Tech has come so I don't see things the way you do. I know this, MTSU's stadium, with all it New stuff, won't give you a big time high school game atmosphere.

I don't thnk I am being overly critical at all.  What I have said is fact.  The facilities are sub par - period.  It's a state championship event that should be played at the best possible facilty.

Surrounding states play their state championship games in more up to date and user friendly venues.  There is no reason why Tennessee can't do it.

Going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

The city of Chattanooga and UTC have the best possible facility except for one sticking point, location. The city is a top notch tourist destination, well versed in handling large events, plenty of motel rooms, sufficient parking near Finley Stadium and a covered venue next to the stadium for pre and post game celebrations.

Finley Stadium has been used for NCAA Div 1-AA ( or whatever they call it now ) National Championship games, TSSAA Spring Flings, USA Women's National Soccer team and will soon host a friendly match by the USA Men's National Soccer team.

Location is a negative. People in West Tennessee probably would object to traveling to Chattanooga. Also ,another problem is I do not know if Chattanooga even puts in a bid.

Besides Chattanooga, I would choose Murfreesboro to host the event.

Chattanooga has put in bids a couple of times, and very good bids at that - as I recall a better bid than Cookeville on at least one occasion.  They have proved they can host that level of event hosting spring flings in the past, and you are correct on Chattanooga being a destination city for tourism.  They know how to handle events.

But as I said, history says that the fix it in, which is why some potential bidders have backed off of evening wasting the time and resources to put together a bit.

Logistically I think Vandy would be a nightmare. No parking. And west end traffic is crazy.

I disagree. I have been apart of several large state title games their and they were great. Plenty of quality restaurants in walking distance and literally 4 traffic lights away from the interstate.

Yep.  I worked several state championship football games at Vandy and went to others simply as a spectator.  Never seemed to be any problem with parking.  And there are plenty of eateries and several hotels within a 10 minute walk of Dudley Field.

Just curious why Nissan stadium (Titans) doesn't get involved. Not a big enough attendance from fans to make money? Just curious. Smyrna guy but am currently living in Dallas. Multiple rounds are held at Jerry world (AT&T stadium). The championship weekend rotates between Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston.

Have you seen the high school football stadiums in texas?? Lol They really don't have a choice.Thats 50,000 people at a high school game easy. Oan I would love to have it at the titans stadium but they state games seems like they don't have great turn outs.

I have been to a game here in Dallas. Went to watch Flower Mound and Marcus this year. Rivals in the same town just north west of Dallas. Amazing. But there is something to be said about the feel of a small town high school football game atmosphere.

Even the 'small town' Texas games dwarf the State Championships here in Tn.   There whole towns close for games and the total population travels to support the team.

The movies made about Texas High School football teams, do not exaggerate.

Now somebody pass me a cold Pearl or Lone Star!

My son lives in a town 35 miles north of Austin, population about 1,400.  The local high school has 325 students, with about 50 kids in the football program.  Their stadium seats nearly 4K and they fill it pretty much every home game.

Football is a different animal in Texas.

And don't forget about Shiner Bock.

    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
    • I suppose you are correct but from my understanding it was going to be a situation of the HC saying yay or nay to every play
    • That is a shame.Romeo does know more than one circle.Secret or not.
