I believe the Ravenwood job is the best job open in the state right now because it has the best reasources and funding of any job open right now. Expectations are lower than they were a year ago and the rising sophomore class is arguably the best in school history. People point to the principal as a black mark but I don't think that's a fair accusation, after all she is the one who hired both Rector and Hester. During the last coaching search I kept hearing "the new coach will have to teach" that's totally false. They get paid to teach but only monitor in school suspension all day while doing film on the laptop. Overall this is a Great gig, don't know exactly who is on the shortlist but we'll find out soon enough.

With Nolensville open...no it's not the job it was

Ravenwood will be back at the 2000 student mark in 4-5 years with all the growth in the area and will pick up right where it left off. Nolensville has a good rising jr class, but once it's gone in a few years and they have to move up a classification, the people who bolted Ravenwood are gonna be scratching their heads on why they left. Just look at the feeder programs, Nolensville heavily emphasizes that aspect but Ravenwood's freshman had the best season ever this past fall and Woodland Middle convincingly beat Mill Creek. Not saying Nolensville can't be good but saying Ravenwood can't be as good as they were a few years ago is just not true.

How that Woodland team do against Brentwood Middle and Grassland Middle....yes got spanked. They also beat Mill Creek with two of their best players out. Ravenwood is a good job, but it's not going to be like a few years back with Will or Rector...Nolensville has taken the steam out of the Raptors.

Especially with the way Nolensville recruits. Can't beat their facilities & they have a top notch coach

Don't all schools recruit in some way. Families and players want to play for good programs supported by good communities. You have good coaches ,facilities and program...they will come.

Don't blame those players and families in that area wanting to play for Will...proven coach and leader. They will be a force real soon.

Look, when Ravenwood was struggling under Rietveld they said that Ravenwood had seen their best days and they would never be good again. Then they made a good hire and before you know it they win another state title. Then NHS opens and the coach leaves and Ravenwood goes 5-5 and we hear all the talk about how the program "will never be good again." Read the projected student population for a few years down the road and we regain the lost students relatively quickly. This topic is about Ravenwood. Will Nolensville be good? Of course. But that is completely independent from what happens at Ravenwood. When RHS opened they said Brentwood "would never be good again." They were also looking for a new coach around this time. Someone didn't tell Ron Crawford about what BHS was "supposed" to do. Look at them over the last decade. With the right coach Ravenwood will compete for state titles alongside our neighbors to the east and west in the toughest football region in the state.

    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
