How many did sh lose off last years team. They have 2 young lefties back don't they.

Lost #8 and #9...8 was the shut down pitcher and third baseman, 9 was leadoff hitter and CF. Both will be sorely missed, as they were the "leaders" in the locker room as well as on the field. We've added some very good freshmen and got 7 back from Tommy John surgery. May never have a kid as fast as 9 again, but 7 can run too and just might be as good of a pitcher as 8 was. Pitching staff is deep...shouldn't be a problem as we have six or seven capable of throwing a good ballgame. Leadership is in good hands with the current seniors, QB from the football team and #4 are natural born leaders.

On a different note, I think that you "lowballed" your estimate on where MC will rank in 14AA...Lexington looked better than I thought they would, but I think that the Bobcats should be in the running with them and Chester Co. for the district crown. SS and Bolivar are unknowns, the Hawks looked very good at times last season, but I don't know what they lost. Fayette Ware should finish at the bottom, but nothing is certain.

South Side looked pretty good in their scrimmage against Trinity. They have done a good job developing a good pitching staff. Would that be enough to finish top-2? Right now, I don't think so. I say that because TCA lost a lot from last years team and I said that South Side looked pretty good.

Question that refers to next season... Would the postseason rules still apply? Only two teams would advance out of district? Because Riverside, Scotts Hill, Adamsville, Lexington, South Side, Chester County, and North Side is a tough tough tough district...

I feel like North Side is one year away from competing. Senior and Junior classes aren't the best, but they have done a great job getting a good Sophomore and Freshman class, just hopeful they would get a another good Freshman class to back it up.

I'd assume that the same format would apply, and haven't heard anything to the contrary. Iron sharpens iron...SH wouldn't be where they are without the level of competition they've faced in their current district with Riverside and Jackson Christian, and would think that whomever survives that gauntlet would not face anything tougher at Spring Fling.

Thank you for the insight and I would agree that whoever survives this district, will be strong team into deep May. However, we are focused for 2017 which the first pitch is in 8 days, and not 2018. In addition to the teams I've listed, I didn't include McNairy Central in the mix.

McNairy will all depend on their pitching. They have quality depth but they can be very inconsistent. Consistency will make or break them this year. They looked really good against Milan and had another good scrimmage with JCS.

I was wondering how Lexington was looking, I figured they would be the favorites this year. I think it will be a 3 way battle between Lexington, Chester, and McNairy. I believe Southside lost quite a few players and pitching off last year team. But, I could be wrong on that. I just donr think Bolivar has enough talent to compete with the rest of the teams and Fayette-Ware takes the last spot.

I think that Lexington's bats will decide where they fall. If they can hit, they'll be tough to beat...their pitching and fielding are good enough, but they managed only three hits against SH in nine innings, with five different pitchers and back up fielders in for the last two innings. One of the Tiger's fans told me that Lex. had hit well against Westview and Jackson Christian, so I'm hoping that the Lions are that good (lol), but think that they may have to step it up a little in that department.

    • Ouch! If he's in the scrap business maybe
    • That's a nice story but has little to nothing to do with what we're talking about.
    • The winds of change are blowing in Hartsville.     Will be an interesting follow.    Would go back to the 90s and turn black the clock!
    • Did he promise you a coordinator job or something if he ever got a head coaching job? He resigned? He was at the top of the dugout last night calling plays. I wonder if those 30+ parents would let him give their kids a ride. by the way the board meeting was last night and it was not mentioned. must have been at the work session earlier this week which is not public. must be trying to keep it quiet.  Since you know so much, how much is Robbie Atwood willing to pay Adam Cothron?  Didn't you slander Eden earlier on here? You also didn't know he was a faculty coach again so how much do you really know? Some people outside this county baffle me with their need to slander others.
    • He resigned smh, and have you ever heard of charged but not convicted. Some people in this county baffle me with their need to slander others. Have you asked any of the 30+ parents that signed a petition to get him reinstated at the board meeting this week how they feel about this? Just let it play out, at the end of the day the only people that will bring TC back are the ones that know what its about at its core.    People hate losing and they aren't used to it at TC. I for 1, and I'm sure others too, understand having a dip in talent and not being able to compete for a state title every year. But in the past, TC teams have outworked more talented teams, they didn't continuously lose the turnover battle, they didn't commit 8+ penalties in several games each season, and I believe several of the folks in town that want Blake out feel as if he is neglecting the history of the program. This is from a source that used to be extremely close to the program (not me lol), Blake gets out of school midday and the players show up and there is no practice plan or itinerary.  I also understand those that are on team Blake, when he has loads of talent, he wins. He does know football and he is a tremendous DC, and if the rumors are true then he will do great things. As for the board member issue, it is what it is, everyone that's true to the county know that and nothing has changed. I agree though that they should strive to make the facilities as good as we can. And as far as potential candidates, I agree there is very few options. West, Vetetoe (yes I know), and couple others that could have some interest. Whatever happens is massive for the program during a pivotal time before the next big wave of stars make their way through.
