runtheball
I visit many coaches in metro who have voiced their concern about the illegal recruiting of not only middle school students out of zone ,but even the recruiting of players already in their high school. There is no pressure from principals to win at all costs, so why does a coach recruiting feel the need to do this. Has high school football become like AAU basketball coaches and just go get the best players and let them play. Just coach the kids that come to you and go play. workinprogress
Run the answer is in your question. I wrote about it in a different post a couple weeks ago. Run the better question is why is it allowed. How can metro coaches walk into a Rutherford county school to talk to kids about playing. runtheball
rhe·tor·i·cal ques·tion noun a question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer. "the presentation was characterized by impossibly long sentences and a succession of rhetorical questions"

You should have seen the high school coaches lined up watching the middle school basketball tournament last night. Vultures.

Maybe they are all looking to coach in college where recruiting is the norm. Until there is punishment it will continue. Nothing gets attention like being docked pay. workinprogress
Big chief I don't doubt it. I guess I'm old school because I think you coach the kids that are zoned for you. If you don't have a zone you coach the kids that show up. Maybe you walk your own halls and get a few more but you don't go to your neighbors. BreadTruck28
Do you guys see it from privates, publics, or both? It was a big factor when I was in high school (mid 80s) but I'd hoped it had gotten better rather than worse... I've noticed sometimes when a coach changes school a good athlete just happens to change at the same time. My guess is it's very hard to prove and that's why you don't see punishment doled out... But you'd hope the administration would police itself properly.

chumley7
Saw several coaches public and private at the Marshall v Gra-Mar championship football game this fall. Guess the TYFA and TNYFL Saturday games are next
