The Cleveland High School Athletic department announces two coaching additions to the 2017-2018 school year. Next season both football and wrestling will have new assistant coaches on the sidelines. Chris Brown will be an assistant football coach while Jeff Price will be assisting the wrestling team.

Both Brown and Price bring a wealth of experience with them. CHS Principal Autumn O’Bryan said, “Cleveland High School aims to bring in quality coaches who are also outstanding teachers.†Coach Price and Coach Brown both meet this expectation. They come to us with a wealth of experience and knowledge. We are excited to see their impact as Blue Raiders. “

Jeff Price comes to the CHS wrestling program from Johnson City where he was with the Science Hill High School and Liberty Bell Middle School wrestling programs. He has been a part of numerous teams that made state appearances. Price was awarded the Teacher of the Year in 2016 for Johnson City Schools; he has also been the English Department Chair since 2013. He has been awarded the TACA coach of the year three times and was a member of the first wrestling team at Carson Newman College. Jeff Price is a Nationally Board Certified teacher who will be teaching our English I classes next fall. Coach Josh Boskin stated, “We are extremely excited for Coach Jeff Price to join our coaching staff. Being a veteran in the coaching world, Price is going to bring a lot of passion, advice and knowledge to our program. Price will assist in many ways, but we are most excited for his excitement and commitment in the athletes’ educational success. Coach Price will look great in Blue!â€

According to CHS Athletic Director David Turner, “We are extremely excited to welcome Coach Brown and Coach Price to Cleveland High School. Their commitment to excellence in academics and athletics is a tremendous combination that will propel our student athletes to a higher level. It’s a great day to be a Blue Raider!â€

Sommers,

Do you know something that we do not? I have not heard anything about this being political. Would you like to expand upon your statement?

It had nothing to do with politics. As bad as these schools are runned by politics in this county. This time it had nothing to do with it. Just a bad mistake he done and it cost him.

One bad mistake or multiple mistakes that surfaced at the same time?

    • Yep..could possibly have 3 teams ranked in top ten in the same four team district.
    • He had an opportunity to be the OC at TC without final say in the offensive gameplan. How does that work? Smh. Head Coaches are public figures regardless of the community size, and yes there are some out there, it’s irrelevant and not fair to them to name them on here. Also why is said “head coach” the head coach of the MS baseball program to begin with? Oh because no one wants it. As for the Lebanon question, I know what I’ve been told so just going off here say, some of the boosters were not happy with his roster decisions and wanted him out. Although he lead them to 20+ wins in multiple seasons
    • A head coach in the school system? No I dont think so. Head coaches are public figures in small communities. Not trying to slander, but this is an actual question. Do you know why he was forced to resign at Lebanon? This was his second chance.  He already left trousdale once and had an opportunity to come back a couple of years ago but spoiled that.
    • Are you perfect? Nope no one is, at the end of the day there are several teachers/coaches and even some in the Trousdale County school system that have DUI’s on their record. You’re correct on it being a bad mistake and it unfortunately could have ended horribly. While you consider the consequences minimal, I can assure you they are not. Ultimately I hope and have faith that he will learn from it and use it to better himself.
