Who is the best team ever in TSSAA history?

there were 3 15-0 riverdale teams but all you hear about is the 94 and 04 team why does no one put the 01 team up there with them, i was on that and i know how good we were. not sayin we were the best but we are right up there. what are your opinions.

Cleveland won the 4A championship over Brentwood Academy in 1993.

I forgot 1993 they went to 5 classifications. I saw on Riverdale's website where they beat Cleveland in the playoffs in 1992, but they were only 3A that year. My mistake.

USA Today and several other publications recognized the 1973 Baylor team as number one in the nation. What other Tennessee team has been recognized at year end as number 1?

USA Today was started in 1982.

 

That being said, Baylor was indeed tabbed in 1973 by some services as mythical national champs. A school out of Tyler, Texas shared honors with Baylor that year.

 

The 1958 Oak Ridge team also won a mythical national title.

I know BA has three USA Today top 10s, and is tied with MBA for the most number of Super 25 appearances from Tennessee, but no number one final ranking:

I have personally witnessed all of Riverdale's championship teams and the 94' team was the best and i will also say 01' was better. They had a tougher region and played better teams all the way through. Oakland was good, Blackman was tough, and had to travel for the semis.

The 1994 Riverdale team would have beaten the 2004 Riverdale team by 30 points. The 2004 team while outstanding is so one dimensional on offense. The 1994 team had more talent than any other high school team I have ever seen. They were and still are the best.

the 99 milan team was a great one...they set some records i think.

You may be right bhs, I just don't know how in the world the 2004 team would score or stop the 1994 team from scoring, not taking anything away from the 2004 bunch they were by far the best team this year and that is all that really matters.

Statistically speaking, the '94 team had a better defense, but the '04 team has a better offense so I guess we may never know. Unless they'd be interested in playing in the Riverdale title game: 1994 vs. 2004. Man I sure would love to see Alviiiiiiiin Duuuuuuuuuuuuke play again.
