  1. Nobody said BGA doesn't care about football. However, the excitement for football at BGA is much different than years past and if the powers that be do not exercise their best judgement, the trajectory for football could go the wrong direction. I'm sure most BGA supporters want the right hire, but also need to be dynamic in the process so they're not left scraping the bottom of the barrel for a HC.
  2. Based on a few BGA paths that I cross; this seems to be the case. It's unfortunate too, because BGA has been a traditionally strong program and been middle of the road as of late, which shows in the stands as well on any given Friday night. You hate it for the players, as it used to mean something to be a BGA Wildcat, and now... it's just another place to go to school and play sports. Would love to see a legacy type of Coach come to the helm and make BGA great again. Or hire a Coach that knows and respects that tradition as a former opponent. BGA Board, Admin, search committee needs to show a little more sense of urgency, if they want to right the ship and not lose players with the current coaching carousel going on in D2 right now.
  3. Not shocking that FCS beat DCA, however the manner of which they did is surprising. Most wouldn't expect a running clock on the defending state champs in that rivalry. A lot of people had DCA as their favorite to repeat in D2A. At this rate, DCA may not even finish above .500 this season. Clearly something is awry over on the Stones River in Donelson.

  5. You would be hard pressed to say a 10 game series between these 2 teams would be far removed from a 5-5 or 4-6 split. Very evenly matched talent wise. I was glad to be able to watch such a great High School Football game. Pivotal moments that defined the caliber of game it was from my perspective 1. LA opening drive setting the tone early, smash mouth football (for a spread team at least) 2. Oakland defense rising to the occasion at the goal line after a costly fumble on the ensuing kickoff, very gritty & hard nosed 3. Oakland defense reaping the fruits of their labor and getting pressure to get the scoop and score, relentless aggression 4. LA's almost quarter long drive to show they can play ball control with their spread attack offense, quite impressive imho 5. A little luck on a play that was poised to go nowhere and a couple of good athletes making a play to go up 14 6. A star being a star on a 75 yard house call, great individual effort and athleticism 7. Defensive halftime adjustment to keep LA bottled up in the 2nd half, Coaching Kudos right there 8. Lack of Offensive halftime adjustment, LA became predictable as game wore on & Oakland defense smelled blood 9. The pass interference call on the go ahead drive for Oakland, way to make the most of situational football 10. The absolute intestinal fortitude of Oakland to win it on the 2 pt. conversion. Straight gumption right there! 11. The desire of the LA offense to give themselves a chance at the 2 yard line with seconds to go. 12. The tenacity and the determination of Oakland defense to define the moment and finish the job, well done 13. In the end, a great exhibition of 2 of the best in TNHSFB, good show LA & Oakland, good show

  7. Isn't Coach Dorris the Offensive Coordinator at McGavock High School? Why would he leave a 6A school with a better pool of athletes and a higher ceiling to go to a limited talent pool with more restrictions...?? Not sure how long he has been OC there, but looking objectively at their offensive output, not sure he is ready for a HC role...?? I know 6A to D2-AA is kind of apples to oranges, but just my 2 cents.
  8. So based on the minutes from the December meeting, Coop schools will have to possibly apply the following, if it's approved. "f.Voted to table proposed Addition to Article I, Section 6 (Cooperative Programs) of the TSSAA Bylaws: Section 6 currently reads: Only two member schools may petition TSSAA annually for permission to have a cooperative program in any sport if one of the schools does not have that program and has not had that program for the last five years. The Executive Director of TSSAA may approve such cooperative programs subject to approval by principal of schools involved, the governing board of the schools involved, and the Board of Control. Addition: Schools that have a cooperative program will be classified in the sports in which the cooperative program exists by using the smaller number of the following calculations. 1.Combined enrollment of the two schools involved in the cooperative program. 2.Applying a multiplier of 1.8 to the larger of the two schools involved in the cooperative program. Submitted by McKenzie High School g.Amended and approved the proposed Addition to Article I, Section 6 (Cooperative Programs) of the TSSAA Bylaws: Public and charter schools may form cooperative agreements only with other public and charter schools. Independent schools may form cooperative agreements only with other independent schools. Submitted by Harding Academy" So that being said, is the verbiage from what I underlined going to be applied to both D1 & D2 programs? If applicable to D2, does that mean the D2 schools will have a multiplier added...?? It will be interesting to see how this will be applied, if approved.

  12. I'm confused by this as well. How can they be in D2-A with that enrollment number? Any Lipscomb insiders know something the rest of us don't?
