  1. 3rd best PG in the state is pretty impressive! What more do you want? I think he may very well average 20+ minutes a game as a Freshman at Austin Peay. He may not score much there, but he may end up in the top 5 all time in assists! He is very strong, good handles - especially going right (could still work on his left hand a little), and his shot is much improved. He may just be the best passer in the state. Plus, he gets plenty of props. If his team makes it to state again, which is possible, but not probable, I think he may be named Mr. Basketball in AAA.
  2. I heard Cutter is not playing that well this year from othr sources as well. Surprising to me after what I saw this summer. Damron and Cutter played on the same team and there was no comparison. Cutter started and was the engine that made that team run. Damron was a nice role player coming off the bench and was not afraid to shoot and showed real promise. Glad to see Damron is stepping it up in high school. Wooten is the real deal and will do very well in college. Where is he being recruited?
  3. Major oversight on my part. I would put him in the top 10 for sure.
  4. Who would you have in there from east TN?
  5. There are a lot of good point guards in the state, especially when you combine all classes. I will give it a shot. What makes it difficult is a lot of these guys are combo guards, but I am ranking them as if they were playing PG in college. 1. Joe Jackson, White Station 2. Tyler Cutter, Siegel 3. Tyrone Caldwell, Clarksville 4. Nathan Garth, Hamilton 5. Timothy Ware, BTW 6. DeMario Williams, Culleoka 7. M.J. Brown, Union County 8. Erik Buggs, Mitchell 9. Greg Wooten, Briarcrest 10. Jon Primm, Dickson Co 11. Kyle Upton, Antioch 12. DeMario Watkins, LaVergne 13. Jordan Damron, Maryville 14. K.J. Stripling, Smyrna 15. Twilley, Shelbyville
  6. Did Maryvile beat farragut and Bearden without Douglas? If so, I am going to have to go out on a limb and say Maryville will repeat in 08.
  7. LaVaerne will crush Siegel, unless they change their style of play. LaVergne is a great defensive team, and Siegel is too youg. Unlesss they start using Cutter as their focal point, they will get destroyed.
  8. Did not mean to offend you. You must be a loyal fan. I did not see the Wilson Central game, but I do think that Wilson Central's football players were not playing in that game. Even so, that was a quality win for Siegel and I do think they have potential. I just don't think this is their year. They are just too young and don't play to win. When their PG comes out, it is 100% street ball and that is an indicator of inexperience. Siegel needs more size under the basket - not just height. And, they need Cutter to score. Just my opinion. But, I don't think it would take a basketball genius to figure out what I am saying.
  9. I drove down to the Siegel game because I have heard great things about Siegel this year. The word on the street is that their Sophs are phenomenal and they have one of the best PG's in the state. They had only lost one game against a very good Farragut team by only 1 point. based on what I saw............................... Overton beat them in a good game. The Sophs are good, but not what I was expecting. However, I like Hammonds. He is very smooth and has a knack for scoring. He is also long and is a pretty smart player. He blocks a lot of shots and gets his share of boards. Gooch can jump and is very athletic. #45 is way too short to play the post, but has good fundamentals. Tate is slow, but has potential. Of the 4 Sophs, Hammonds is a D-I prospect, and Tate could be if he becomes aggressive and gets quicker. Gooch is a division I dunker, but not a true basketball player. #45 is way too slow and short to ever consider playing college ball Siegel is a year away from being a good team and 2 years away from being a very good team. And that is only if they have a PG to replace Cutter. Cutter is not being utilized as a scorer. Overton did a good job of clamping down on him, but it is obvious that Siegel is using him as a setup man. If this were 2 years down the road, then I would like the way Cutter is playing as a PG and looking to pass first and then score. Siegel is not ready for that. If they want to make it out of their district, then they better start using Cutter as a scorer - set picks for him and actually look for him when he is open. Cutter played a great floor game and was very unselfish, but missed key free throws and tried to draw contact at the end and the refs were not going to call it. Coaching for Siegel is questionable. They called a timeout when they were on a major run and had the momentum in their favor - ??????????????? Plus, they don't use Cutter???????? I will say in their defense that you can't blame coaching for missing free throws - like Siegel did - including Cutter. You can't blame them for not having a big man inside. To say the least, I was disappointed in Siegel and see them placing 4th or 5th in 7AAA.
  10. I predict they will win this. They have more talent than any of these Memphis teams. The Memphis teams listed above have a few great players, but their teams are not that good. Liberty has the best chance, because they have a very good coach. Craigmont has the overall nbest player out of the bunch (Terrico), but Garth from Hamilton is not far behind. Nashville Christain Advancement Academy of Athletics has a more talented starting 5, but I don't know about depth.
  11. Hard to pick top 10, but you have to add Dominque Taylor to this list - if not near the top. Also, Giltner should be hear as well. Not sure who you take off. I know that Taylor is a better college prospect than Gaines and I would pick him over everyone on this list. Jurick is 6'10 - that is the only reason I keep him on. Greer? Neal? Giltner has committed to Wofford, but is a steal for them.
  12. Player for player I don't see it. Liberty has some good athleticsm and a good coach, but can't match up man for man with Briarcrest. Hamilton has one player that is good and a coach that seems to let his players get a little out of control. White Station? Maybe. St. Georges? Maybe Maryville? Maybe Overall, I still think Briarcrest has by far the best starting 5.
  13. I like White County, but am not a WC alum. I like high school basketball in general and watch a lot of games. I try to watch the best teams in the state and love to watch summer (AAU, Nike Addidas, Reebok) games where there is more talent assembled. Teams I will watch this year: Cookeville, Shelbyville, Antioch (even though I do not like their attitudes), White County, Maryville, Clarksville, and Howard. I will try to make it to the Siegel/Oakland game, because that game may have more intensity (I am talking crowd and players combined) than any other in the state - in the regular season- at least it has in the past. Now that talent has fallen off for both that may change. I like District 7AAA because the fans are in to the games more than any other district. Although Riverdale is a great football school, Murfreesboro has turned out to be a great high school basketball town. All 4 Murfreesboro schools can compete year in and year out.
  14. Antioch is more talented than anyone - by far - in Middle. too bad they have had such a lack of leadership and discipline most recently.
