  1. This is a list of tournaments thru the season.
  2. it is obvious at this time of the year, your door has been knocked on or you phone has rung with someone saying "Hello, my name is -------- and I am selling ( charge cards candy, cookies, etc, etc, etc.). Would you help us this year? And those fans would think yes I want to do that this year because someone likely related or someone who had a player play, has been in the family. To those who have helped and watch the hard work the players expend to support their community, it is a great way to do it. Even a car wash or so helps also. But the thing that turns these players on the most is not only getting you to buy whatever they sell, but when a patron show up at a match to see them and comes by and says great game after their match. Thanks for everyone who has bought something. You supported your team.

  4. the complication of this rule is the local rule in the County determining where Students go from that school.

  9. If at sometime, CT decides that the support of the Sport does not fit his time and effort, and it is his site, there are oter venues that are interested. Not with the prestige and influence of this site though. Losing VB shook up a lot of fans. VB is a major womens/girls sport along with soccer and softball and girls basketball. Go to a site of some major VB Tournaments and you could see 2000/2500 fans spending some time there and maybe more. Go to some of the major interdisreict matches and the game is well supported. yes some work has to be done to maximize the attendance and it is being done. The passion is still there. It will always be there in high school athletics but the reason is the passion that Coaches and players present to the public. its a fine product and the State Tournament the first two days is as well attended as any sports. But even the last two days fall off every year. What a Sport!!!
  10. Nope, the same question came thru my mind for Coacht when Volleyball left the site and so did I after maintenance finished the Middle of July. Evidently a technical glitch but everything I had posted before the glitch, along with all correspondence from posters disappeared and some of last years posts took its place. There seemed to be a lot of views showing up with people looking in. While I could not verify if anyone could see the site, my fears were right. The whole forum left for never, never, land somewhere out in cybervision and the only thing I wound up seeing was CoachT on his facebook site in a hammock taking a snooze. It means now trying to reinvent information and I thank you for asking.. Hope we didn't lose anyone and I thank you for asking. After 9 years on this site, and CT doesn't just do this, without an eye on response of fans, Time is getting shorter. I am closing in to the end of the careers of 3 grandkids. they have enjoyed the game and so have I. But the support of fans and parents across the State have been the best. Times are tough and financing is tougher but the support is still there. Have a great season.
  11. it appears that most posts leading up to this Volleyball season did get deleted and its start all over time for this forum. Evidently reconstruction process is not available. fans from all over the State of Tennessee High Schools in this great sport will have to bring this site up to date or find information otherwise. Schedules can be found on TSSAA site. other preseason information can be found there also. 2012 information looks to be on the site and the start date has been posted.. The site will be only as good as you make it and its waiting here for you.
  12. Evidently safety of the athlete, whether football or not, is the primary reason at looking at this bill. All athletes are suseptable to concussions no matter the sport. But the question comes to mind, what if an athlete gets a concussion outside of sports. that happens all of the time whether it be a fall, a car accident, a bicycle accident, etc. Athletes take physicals. Seems to me that requiring those who give may skewto put a question on the examination as to whether there has been any major event of a head blow occurred in the previous year or something of that nature to at least put everyone on alert that something has happened. Football is of major concern here but usually when stats are taken on events of this kind, concussions show up everywhere, maybe not with the frequency of major impact sports but everywhere. Outside events may skew the numbers. What if the athlete is a boxer also or something of that nature? Real life instances can effect people who play.
  13. You are right about Simmons for sure. Something happened that we don't know about and probably shouldn't. A great player looked to habve lost her confidence and seemed to be rushing and not relaxed. She is still a great player with all of the tools and a difference maker but needed to let the game come to her more than rush. The coaching staff has films and has to know what she needs. Smetimes chemistry on a team changes with just a little difference in personel. The chemistry on that team was off just enough to make a difference. When you are that good its hard to put your finger on whats the difference. But fans will never know nor should they. Six foot six. Mama must have been an Amazon.
  14. You are right in every point. UT is very fortunate to have this player. Warlick is a fine person but is not yet a Summitt. Tennessee just doesn't seem right not making it to the Final 4. It did not have the organization that one is used to be seen and the caliber of on a Tennessee team. Injurys have followed Tennessee for a few years and are not new. Something else missing and cant seem to put my hand on it. Could be there has been no Griner on the team. I think we bothcan admit that the baar is pretty high when comparisons are made between teams. AM will fit in very well. The difference is she is not used to losing. Tennessee, for whatever reason, has become used to losing and the caliber of opponent is not the reason. Recruits are just recruits. Some are good and some are just recruits. Summitt had a way of taking great players to another level. Can't find that at Tennessee today. Whether anone is able to coach that way at UT today will be the difference if UT can continue to play like it has. By the way, Conn. had good recruits also.
  15. News of AM committing to UT is surprising but not surprising. It will cause and has caused recruiting ripples everywhere, Positioning for the services of this very talented player has been going on for some time since its been known that the SEC had been her preference. Others had hoped she would change her mind. UT was the choice but was it the best choice. Only time will tell and to get it off her mind is of some value. Congrats to this fine player and family.
  16. 7AAA has strong teams in just about every sport.
  17. Adding a school is always difficult but everything else is the same. the main thing is if the coaching stays pretty will the same. Why wouldn't great coaches want to get in the middle of the food fght in the Big 7. It doesn't get any better than that along with crowds that fill up stadiums every night. Yes its getting crowded but if you want to play with the big boys and to be seen to compete with some of the best, the Big 7 AAA is the place to be. But something has got to be done about having to play the District twice to get to the semi finall. By that time the schools are so beat up, everyone of them, thats the major problem. Forget about the adding of schools. Everyone wants a piece of the action. What a great feeling it must be to play in your home County with the best and not have to be in a watered down league with some wannabees. All of these players graduating will be remembered for years and years in the Boro and even some might even play futher in that town. What a great atmosphere.
  18. Since no one else might not post it, all the good words concerning Siegels play is appreciated and back atcha for a Maryville team that did not quit. I can say this. Siegel appreciated Maryville's fans and Coaches and players and especially the respect both teams showed each other with their play. I am not the one to answer questions about football but you might understand that to play in such a competitive District as 7AAA and then have to replay all of those teams again in the playoffs, its a wonder there were not more injuries, bruises and bumps. The nDistrict as you realize is not a cream puff District. Schools have to be deep to even play with the others. Coaching staffs understand that and set up the teams accordingly. This is a special team with some special skill players as is Maryville every year. Your observation about both schools leaving everything on the field was obvious. They did it and lived with it. All that you heard about Siegel players was true. You just didn't hear much from them as they knoew they had to win on the field. A lot of cream came to the top from both schools with their play. Just maybe, if things work out, 7AAA next fall will get their schools together with an addition of one school and go thru the revamping and rezoning and start all over again. Siegel may not be effected as much as other schools. Siegel had a lot of seniors but played a lot of players all year. The Hurry up takes a lot of smart football players and coaches. It was obvious Maryville had to have the same type players and coaches. As you know, Siegel really wanted to win and so did Maryville. Maybe another time and another field or whatever. Both schools should be prould of what happened this past Friday night. A lot of class. Good luck.
  19. Thats why this athlete will make an attempt to play but he is a Senior and many have watched how he operates and some only think there is no other way but to lead. May bring out the best in both teams and just that in itself makes this one of the best games in the Playoffs. Siegel does have depth on both sides and will be well coached but what you say is true but to the degree NOT?????. Thats a wide range and nobody thinks BS will not be hanging around just waiting for the chance. The offense and Defense have now played and replayed a very hard and agressive District, one which became really familiar with the scheme. Nothing easy but this school has somethng to prove. Not been there before, have a plan, now motivated from two different areas and really wants to go on to the next level. Respects Alcoas achievements very much but to have to go thru every week the competition of some great 7AAA schools. nothing can be much mpre demanding than that. They will show up.
  20. Tom Kreager, with the DNJ, is a great journalist and seems to be on top of the best story is every major High School event aound. Of Course the main reason is he recides in the middle of a District that seems to have major stories come out of it on a regular basis. High School athletes MO, especially high level, are predictable. They are fearless, courageous and considering the fact this one is a senior, a known leader and knows what it means to be there for his teammates no matter whether his playing time is significant or not the realization of what this means to the school and its students and to the team is important. After all, he has seen it first hand and the way a Coaches son would know after living it most of his athletic life in real time. That is the thing Maryville has to be concerned about. He does know whats ahead of him after he has finished High School Football, the rehab and therapy to get himself ready for the next level but his time is right now and to not let his teammates and Coaching Staff down. Something tells me BS has been preparing himself for this time and this situation for some time and has also played his way thru seeing what has happened before. Many will be watching real time and certainly following the rest of his career because only history tells whether athletes meet their potential. This action though, does one thing that is not deniable. Whatever the outcome of the game, the school and its players have set the bar pretty high for future performances and these players have set the example for the school which will be examples for the rest to follow. And for Brent Stockstill, we all pray everything works out well.

  22. Really difficult to read all of this without hearing an official diagnosis of the problem. Who would have expecdted something like this wouuld happen. But its not over until its over, no complaints and no excuses. Siegel has gone thru a lot of things during the year and this one is no different. They heve won together, endured together and they will finish together with the way 7AAA usually does. Let the pundits continue on. This will be a great game and one they can be proud of.
