  1. My sincere apologies, "cheese with that wine" now thats funny. Thats a cute little quote there pumpkin. Real creative, I'm partial to, "wine and French cries". But I didn't know that whining was reserved for just Lawrence Co fans. So let's just be honest with each other, every team whines. If you read my quote you'll note, I'm not from Lincoln Co, I'm from Franklin Co. If I wanted whine I would have after our game with you, but that would have been biased. Instead, I decided to watch a live game of Lawrence Co game against a different opponent. So Slick, before you start back with the sore loser, and cheese n wine combo. Let me set the record straight. Not once did I ever mention a player or your wonderful coach, which is the only reason you're any good by the way. What I said, if you'd had even remotely taken the time to read it, would have made sense. In short I stated that I'm tired of watching officials who constantly buy that garbage fake charge your team does. And when it happens in the paint is nothing less than dangerous play. Because half the time they call nothing while your player rolls around in the paint. The other part of that is when one of your player essentially crawls up under a player while he's in the air and gets the call. You had one player who got 4 of those calls (should've been blocks) and one true charge. I quit counting somewhere in the double digits how many times that he flopped and rolled around in the paint. So, is that the class act you're talking about because I don't find it very classy. What I really find classless is the officials that let it happen over and over again. Have a nice night and congratulations on another championship.
  2. I get so tired of watching the flopping that Lawrence Co continually get away with. What's worse is the sorry officiating that continually rewards that garbage play
  3. Why can't they be evaluated after each game by coaches. Or do they even allow. They can at least get an idea of how they called. I sure some coaches might be biased based on the outcome of a game or not even care, but at least they would have a voice and have no excuse.
  4. They are getting worse every year. I agree one bad ref can make the others look bad. But we played a game a few years ago where all three were calling the game extremely tight. Other team was pressing early in the 1st qtr and had to get out due to foul trouble. Stayed tight like that until about 2 mins into the 4th and they were down by 11 and started to press. It was a mauling. Both teams were already in the double bonus and within two mins we're down three. After the game I got the chance to talk to one about letting the free for all. The response I got was,"we don't want to influence the outcome of a game". By just officiating tight or loose they influence the game, they are a part of it.
  5. Agree. Which why I have them finishing last in 8AAA. But then the top team in 9A would struggle to be a top team in 8AAA. However, the top A for girls would have a much better chance than the boys teams at finishing in the top 3 in AAA. The point is a top Single A team has a much better chance to win, or in this case to dominate a bottom AAA team. I don't know which teams are the top for this year, but based on last year I highly doubt that a good Moore County girls team would beat last years Lawrence Co team. And I feel the odds are worse that last years Huntland boys beats either Lawrence Co or Columbia. But they did beat Coffe Co and no one in 8AAA was really surprised.
  6. Wouldn't weigh too much in those games for Franklin Co. FC is young and couldn't buy a bucket but I think they will improve as the season goes on. I was very impressed with both Community and Moore Co girls. They both played under control on offense and looked very displined on the defensive side. However, the boys were a different story as FC controlled the games very early and coasted. But Community has a nice big that I thought they didn't feed enough to go with some nice players around him. And Moore Co is extremely young with talent and a very bright future ahead of them
  7. Seen a few games and checked early results so here's my predictions for the boys season: 1. Lincoln Co - returning 4 starters and primary scorers; 2 bigs and guard, picking them as the early favorite. 2. Franklin Co - also returning 4 starters, front line and primary scorers. 3. Columbia - lost 23 seniors (okay 8), but they always seem to have athletes step in, plus they seem to always start slow. 4. Shelbyville - return Harden, Young and Pryor. 5. Lawrence Co - lost primary scorers and bigs, but could be sleeper raining threes with new crew 6. Coffee Co - seem to be scoring and playing much better but needs to improve on defense. 6.5 Tullahoma - Barsted: as far as he can carry them. Will need someone else to score and their big guy needs to play better down low in order to move up
  8. Trying to generate some 8AAA talk. Haven't seen all the teams, but based on early results and last years returnees. So here's my predictions. Franklin Co is young and isn't shooting very well, so unless they start dropping shots, it's going to be a long season. 1. Lawrence Co 2. Lincoln Co 3. Shelbyville 4. Coffee Co 5. Tullahoma 6. Columbia 7. Franklin Co
  9. WOW!!!! $2000 for assistant and $5170 for Head Coach. That is absolutely embarrassing!!!
  10. Doesn't matter who you get or what offense you run, Spread, Wing T, Singe Wing, Power I... if you don't get the backing from the administration (pay and other benes.) get assistant coaches who want to come and stay (and can coach), get both North and South coaches / parents on board (run the same system, get rid of that rivalry), get the athletes from transferring from out (primarily parent issue), get the athletes out of the halls (yes you can focus on more than one sport)...and get time to build. Don't get that done...and you still will not WIN. Quit comparing the Freshman football records to the schedule that the Varsity plays. When the Freshman start playing Mt Juliet, Hillsboro, Independence, and other schools like that then you have an actual comparison. We spent two years learning a new system. No middle school program switched to the spread so we still don't have a passing QB or who is familiar with the spread. Any of the great assistant coaches (sarcasm) that were here before, left. Did any of them get HC jobs elsewhere? I'm sure some did, if not, then what makes you think that if any of them came back that they alone would make any difference now. And why on earth would they want to come back. Did they all of a sudden become great HC candidates by going to other schools? Did they leave because they didn't get the HC job, or they got their feelings hurt? And some of us want them back...after they quit on the kids (sorry little too critical there. Just the opposing view for not bringing them back)...(how's this) transferred out to pursue other opportunities for growth and to gain further experience with other knowledgeable coaches, with the idea of bringing back that wealth of coaching experience to this wonderful football community we calll Rebel Football. Sorry, got on my soapbox once again. I, just like the most of us on here, want to see someone come in and change things, but our history says no, it's not going to happen until these other things change.
  11. No and no. I don't believe they played Mt Juilet, Marshall Co, Independence, lavergne, as Freshman. They probably played Grundy Co, Tullahoma, Lincoln Co, Coffee Co etc... so not a good comparison
  12. Good to here from you coach Smith. Sorry if I offended you, but I tend to get fed up listening to parents, uncles/aunts etc... complain about the coaching. Ive been watching FC football for 20 years and this is the 1st time in a long time that I've seen the kids play hard from the start of the season to the finish. As far as what I've heard, all has been from the kids themselves or their parents. And the way we go through coaches nothing surprises me anymore. I would like to think you would get more time and hope your record this year is not an indication of any ultimatums handed down.
  13. Defense is optional. They don't tackle well, we ran basically the same 5 run plays between the tackles all night for 7 yards a carry. On offense, #6 Harden (6'3" 205) is their main threat. They like to spread the field with 4 wideouts and run Harden. They didn't pass well against us, but that may be due to an off night more so than our defense. They are quick and not very stout up front.
  14. Agree it's not something the kids should be told. But those rumors were already out there and I think he was just wanting to put it out there so the kids could focus on playing. We'll know on Monday, I guess. Agree two years is not enough, but that tends to be the norm around here.
