  1. Coaches are told by TSSAA executives that they" have no control over decisions" and that we should voice our opinions to the representatives in our area because they are the ones that vote. If that is true then why do the executives give their recommendation right before the vote takes place? To remind the board how they want them to vote and to influence the vote. With the current system coaches are supposed to trust the representative from their area to go and vote for what the majority wants. There are some board members that never met with coaches before the vote to allow them to voice opinions...How is that representing coaches? There is one board member "Ricky Catlett" that apparently voted opposite of what his area wanted according to several coaches that I spoke to that he represents. Jody Wright from Fulton is a coach and on the board. How is that not a major conflict of interest??? He is gonna vote the way that has the best outcome for his situation...Who wouldn't??? Our Executive Director that claims that "he has no control" stated yesterday that " We always feel like we have to keep our football numbers as far as enrollment figures in schools going against each other close together" Who is we??? and what about the other student athletes around the state?? All athletes should be treated with fairness and with our current system TSSAA has way too much power. The hard working coaches that really care about our athletes and are not blinded by $$$$ have no voice!

  3. TSSAA would not lose money, they would possibly just not make as much. As a governing body TSSAA should be working for us but it seems like $$$ is by far most important. Money has turned what should be our governing body into a corrupt organization that has the student athlete taking a back seat to $$$$! I really feel like when the vote happens in July that TSSAA will have enough influence on the Board to keep it the same. I hope I am wrong because I really feel like change is needed.
  4. Can someone explain why there is a need for 6 classes in football and not a need for more classes in basketball, baseball, and softball? I have never heard a legitimate reason that would only apply to one group of high school athletes and not the others. If its safety, fair play, etc. why would that not apply to all?
  5. 6 classes in football is about making more money. All TSSAA decisions are based on money. They might say 6 classes in football is about fair play but how can that idea apply to football and not any other sport? "Lengthy Travel" was a concern by Childress when it came to basketball adding classes but its ok for a 2 win football team to travel 3 hours for a 1st round playoff game? Why should a 2 win football team be in the playoffs? Money! Taking the number of schools and dividing it by 3 may be the easiest way for TSSAA to create classes but I think its time to look at it in a different way. In football you will never have a postseason contest between schools where the larger school's population is more than double the opponent. In basketball, baseball, and softball it happens every year in 1A and 3A.
