  1. I was hoping Cloudland would get a better draw than Union City. From what I have heard their resume is pretty brutal.I think their 2nd round matchup could be far more worse than their 1st round, just for the fact both Summertown and Clarkrange from what I hear are diciplined offensively and defensively and very well coached. The only thing that scares me is their guard play and capability of taking care of the basketball. They dont really have a "true" point guard nor a stand-out great ball handler so I could see teams pressure in the halfcourt giving them a little bit of trouble especially more bigger and physical guards.Wilson is going to have to be more of a key than Rhodes is just for the fact the "GLASSHOUSE" isn't really what we call a shooters gym so I could see teams trying to key on Rhodes and make them win from the outside. Most of the time when Wilson and Rhodes play well they get better results. If their guards can take care of the basketball knockdown a few shots here and there to open up the inside and make it a priority to get stops in the halfcourt than I think they can survive that 1st round game.Regardless with the injuries that has occured to them early in the year and different transition changes they have had to go through Roan Mountain has nothing to hang their heads about.I wish both Cloudland and Hampton the best of luck.
  2. Once again it's lose or go home for two of these four teams.Elizabethton is playing very good basketball at the moment both offensively and defensively getting alot of balanced scoring with the emergence of both kayla and kelsey marasites. The Cyclones are very efficient rebounding the basketball and make you work on the defensive end of the floor.South Greene is going to have to be physical on the defensive end right off the bat and not let the Cyclones get comfortable shots. I think if South Greene can get a good night from Cutshaw offensively and their other guards can knockdown some big shots than the lady Rebels will have a chance. But I think there is to much fire power for South Greene to play four quarters with this lady Cyclones bunch. David vs Goliath should be the title of the next matchup between Happy Valley vs the #1 team in the state Grainger County. Happy Valley is on a hot streak right now with the amazing guard play from Shaley Perry and Mackenzie Blankenship both offensive scoring threats. The lady Warriors are going to have to shoot the ball well and have a good game plan defensively in order to stay in the game with this oversized Grainger County basketball team. This is one of those game that the lady Warriors is going to have to use their run and gun style of play to perfection to try and wear this Grainger County team down. Best of luck to both Grainger County and South Greene traveling on Monday night should be a good night of basketball.
  3. Well it's win or go home tonight.Whats everyones thoughts on tonights matchup's? Just by looking at everyones matchup's I think the only close game tonight might be between Chucky Doak vs Happy Valley. I'm going to throw some predictions out for tonights game just to keep this thread moving along. Grainger-67 Unicoi-39 South Greene-61 Sullivan East-42 Happy Valley-49 Chuckey Doak-47 Elizabethton-62 West Greene-36
  4. There is alot riding on the line tonight for most of these teams in the Tri-County. I am sure Elizabethtons girls are hoping coach Whittemores Lady Longhorns can roll into Erwin and pull off a huge upset which would give the Lady Cyclones the #1 seed going into the district tournaments.Sonny Smith gymnasium should be rockin tonight as the Lady Bulldogs face off against the Lady Highlanders in round 2.This time it is for the conference championship.both teams are playing really well right now which should be a great atmosphere and ballgame for both teams. The Happy Valley lady Warriors travel to Sullivan East which with a win would make them the #3 seed going into the conference tournament and force Sullivan East to play in the play in game against Johnson County. Good luck to all teams in the Tri-County tonight,Should be a great night of basketball.
  5. Very tough loss for the Lady Cyclones.I agree with you though coach I thought both the varsity and jv games was very well played for both Happy Valley and Elizabethton
  6. I found out that Happy Valley plays Portland High School @ Midway on Thursday in their christmas tournament. And Elizabethton plays the host team Dormon High School.
  7. I agree with all the rankings so far. This is the part of the year where alot of teams will be seeing newer opponents and will be tested. Unicoi plays Boone which I think will be a great matchup test. Along with Unaka playing a pretty good Smith County team. Seems like since Unaka lost Bradshaw their intensity to win or chip their way back into games has been on a much higher level. And to get a big district win against North Greene this early was huge.No clue about how the teams are Elizabethton and Happy Valley play but should be very competitive for both groups to get out of the area and play newer competition.Hampton will have a tough one with South but Hampton is up and down it seems like this month but I look for Hampton to come out with the win.Johnson County is playing everyone close and battles for the entire game just seems like their lack of depth catches up with them down the stretch. They have a very good chanche against Greenback in their Christmas tournament so I am hoping coach Whit and his group can pull one out. Cloudland travels to Lenoir City where im sure will be some very tough competition. But with everyone now getting healthy the Lady Landers should be in rare form to go down there and make some noise. Everyone have a Merry Christmas and safe holiday.
  8. I thought the Hampton and Happy Valley game was a great game until that stretch at midway point of the 4th quarter.Hampton went to some high ball screens which hurt Happy Valley down the stretch.I thought Montgomery played extremely well for the Bulldogs.Everyone in the gym knows Happy Valley can shoot the basketball but its there lack of defense thats seperating them from winning that big game. All the great teams you see playing in Murfreesboro come March plays great defense. When they decide to come together and make it a priority to get stops on the defensive end of the floor this team could be as good as anyone in that three rivers conference. Cloudland and South Greene and Sullivan East and Hampton will be 2 good games this week to watch.
  9. With Rhodes going down this changes the whole prespective of Cloudlands team.Hopefully it's just something small and nothing serious. She is in my opinion one of the best post players in this area and makes the Lady Landers go night in and night out.Having said that I think this puts a swing on things in the rankings.Apparently the loss of Bradshaw for Unaka has not been affecting them as much as I thought it would. And for them to make it to the championship not having her says alot about the character of their kids and program. I think with some of the losses taking place this week moves some teams up and drops a few down. 1.Elizabethton- Seemed to struggle with Johnson County the other night for a half which makes me wonder how good are they? They are deffinitely the deepest and most talented team in the conference but their inconsistency makes me curious.Good test tomorrow on the road against Morristown East,If they play like they are capable of playing they should win by a good margin. 2.Hampton- Bowers and Dugger are two phenominal players but I think the supporting cast is going to have to show more promise in order for this team to be a threat come February and March.Big game against Happy Valley on Tuesday. 3.Unicoi-Still a little suspect about this group? not a very good defensive or rebounding team but has good shooters and a great scoring point guard in Edwards. Will get a good test tomorrow night against the Lady Highlanders. 4.Happy Valley- This team plays very hard they are very fast with great shooters but I still am not sure if they can win big games against good offensive teams with their inconsistency on the defensive end of the floor. They are going to have to shoot the ball well night in and night out until they get better on defense.Still a little unsure about their post game even though they are very athletic they are still going to have to take some pressure of Perry and Blankenship to make them a more all around team.Good test for the Lady Warriors Tuesday night as they host Hampton. 5.Cloudland- It's like hoodwinked said are the Lady Landers snake bitten this year? With the Lady Landers losing two straight and Rhodes going down last night this kinda puts a damper on their team not only offensively but defensively. They are a very young team with some kids that are a little unexperienced outside of Rhodes,Wilson and Mckinney. They are going to have to find some kids to step up and produce around those three kids if they are going to be a favor in that tough Conference.Big game against Unicoi County tomorrow night. 6.Unaka- This teams plays hard night in and night out.Very impressive tournament over at VA High making it to the championship just ran out of gas in the championship game against Wise Central. The key for this team to be a threat is going to have to be their toughness on the defensive end of the floor. They have a good point guard in Colbaugh and some very dangerous shooters but they lack size.If they can keep getting better on the defensive end of the floor they will compete night in and night out.Should have no problem come Tuesday against University High. 7.Johnson County-One of the most scariest teams out of the other six hands down.Todd Whittemore has these kids ready to play every single night with a great game plan for each opponent.I think if this team could shoot the basketball a little bit better they would be even more scarier for opponents.Came in with a great game plan against Elizabethton and played a good half of basketball which shows signs of this group could be a very dangerous basketball team. The Lady Longhorns host Volunteer on Thursday.Hopefully they can come out with a win because these girls deserve one with the way they have been playing.
  10. You have Unicoi way to high. They just lost to a not so talented Volunteer team.Even with Cloudland 1-2 I would still put them ahead of Unicoi. In my opinion I believe I might have threw Happy Valley up a little to high even though they are 2-0 I would probably flip flop them and Hampton and move Hampton to the 2 spot.
  11. Dont worry king this troll will eventually move along. Now as far as rankings go there has been quite a few surprises with Cherokee about upsetting Elizabethton and Cloudland losing their first 2 right off the bat,but I will try to be as fair as possible and please feel free to agree or disagree. 1.Elizabethon-Still in my opinion is the team to beat.Having said that losing Hodge will be a big factor for the Lady Cyclones in alot of battles this year. 2.Happy Valley- Coming off to a good 2-0 start the Warriors seem to be a contender this year in their conference. 3.Hampton- The lady dogs just finished up the weekend going 2-1 with wins over South Greene and Smith County.Their only loss was to a very tough Cookeville team. 4.Cloudland-Lost two straight to a good Sullivan South and Sullivan East team. But with the talent Cloudland has I dont see them being down to much once the season rolls along. 5.Unicoi County- Got a good win over Sullivan Central but lost to a medioccur Volunteer team. 6.Unaka- Lost to a good Sullivan South team and followed up with a win over David Crockett.Could be a tough team in the conference that others might take for granted. 7.Johnson County- Battled South Greene down to the wire only falling short by 7 points. They are the most inproved team in this area hands down.
  12. Whats the lineup for tomorrow nights games and predictions?
  13. Whats the times looking like for tomorrow and who all will be participating?
  14. I agree coach.Elizabethton on paper is by far the best team in this conference if not upper East Tennessee outside of Science Hill. They return the whole farm back from last year with a very deep bench. I think the conference will be a little down this year prior to years past, but should still be very interesting. I am going to make my early predictions and hopefully not eat crow once the season is over with 1.Elizabethton- The Cyclones return their whole starting five from last year.Robertson,Depew,Demoss,Mccurry and Madgett.Should be very deep off the bench which I think is what seperates them from the other teams in the conference. 2.Happy Valley- The Warriors return 4 of 5 starters from last years team with the addition of a very good freshman in Kaylee Johnson as well as a new coaching change.I could see Happy Valley giving alot of teams trouble with their quickness and ability to score from the outside. 3.Unicoi- The Blue Devils lost a good crop of seniors off of last years team but still return in my opinion the best point guard in the conference. What kids they did lose never seem to be a problem for the Unicoi program in reloading on talent. 4.Johnson County- The Longhorns went from winning 3 games to 11 games in a year span. Now returning everyone back from last year I think coach Whittemore will have these girls on the right track to being a pretty tough opponent in this conference. 5.Sullivan East-The Patriots lost some pretty good players off of last years team but still are very well coached and diciplined.I think East will have to shoot the ball very well from the outside and play tough defensively in order to compete this year. 6.Sullivan North- The Lady Raiders didn't really fair to well in the conference last year. They are almost in the same position Johnson County was two years ago, hopefully things will pick up for this program.
  15. I know basketball is about a month away, what's everyones predictictions on the outlook of the conference this year.
