  1. Y’all’s QB is a heck of a athlete, he made a bunch of our guys miss him in the backfield. Y’all will be hard to beat this season for sure. Y’all have a outstanding facility!!
  2. Covington hired J.R Kirby he was previously the OC
  3. Thanks, our OC has been named interm and everyone is hoping it’s permanent. All the kids and assistant coaches are behind him.
  4. My son played for him as well. I’m also the Covington Booster Club President for the last 4 years. I will say as a parent and president that I’m a Marty Wheeler fan. If your kids buy in and the community supports him Cleveland will do great. I’ll definitely be a Cleveland fan now. He left our program a heckuva lot better than when he took over.
  5. Has Rankin ever been beat in a championship game and how many more years do y’all think he’ll coach? I would hate to be the guy to follow him!lol. He and Alcoa has definitely set the bar high!
  6. Our county has open enrollment but no one takes advantage of it for sports. It’s only been a option for a few years so maybe it’ll will catch on. The rule is if you transfer before going into high school you can play all 4 years but if you transfer once you start high school, you sit out a year, unless you move residents inside our district. I think Dyer County is that way also. I’m hoping with back to back state appearances that some other kids in our county would be enticed into coming but I doubt it lol. Is this basically what y’all have and did I read where yalls transfers pay a tuition fee? One other rule is you have to provide your own transportation if you do it, so that probably stops it from happening a lot. The rumors we’ve always heard is parents get offered jobs in a aluminum factory to bring their kids in? Whatever the secret is coaching, facilities or just community support it is truly remarkable what y’all have accomplished. I feel our community supports us as much as anyone’s in the state. We literally travel better than most teams have home crowds! Also we do good to get 40 to 50 to come out and play, so 80 is remarkable. I’ve always said if we can get some of the other kids in our school to play that should be playing we would be hard to beat. Thanks for the info.
  7. I’ve read in other threads about the open enrollment at Alcoa. I was wondering how many kids on yalls team came from your elementary and middle schools and how many transfer in? In Covington we play with the kids that grow up here. I wish we could get some transfers for high school but that hadn’t caught on in West Tennessee. Thanks and I hope both teams come out injury free Saturday.
  8. Hats of to Strafford they played hard. That being said it’s time to focus on next Saturday! Go Chargers!
  9. Mcnairy definitely came to win tonight! Congratulations on a great season!
  10. But at this time of year it can happen to anyone. Mcnairy gave us all we wanted tonight and the first time we beat them 42-7. It’s never a given unless your Alicoa. Lol
  11. Dude y’all talk so much trash to everyone. It’s just last week that y’all was telling us to make sure we get to round 4. Sounds like y’all should quit over looking people.
  12. Maybe if they get kids from 3 schools next year they’ll get there!
  13. I’m going to be honest, I don’t think it’s a %100 deal we’ll be in Cookeville and I hope we make it to round 4. You never know who’s going to show up or come out flat any giving week. I get bent out of shape when someone runs their trap saying we’re no competition to them. I respect every team in the playoffs. As far as the co-op deal goes, last year was the first I’ve ever heard of y’all or that 2 school mess. You don’t see it as a advantage because you do it. To me it’s insane enrollment doesn’t count. I will say this, if it’s not an advantage let your qb sit the bench the rest of the year. One more thing is you get respect when you give it. The idiot coming over to our stands bumping his gums last year done me in and he was lucky he was escorted out before it got ugly. The remark about us NEVER seeing Cookeville again is retarded too! We may or may not ever win it all but I promise we will be there again in the future.
