  1. Looked at the Knox County Schools website this morning, the Bearden job isn't even posted. I bet there isn't a new coach until April at the earliest.
  2. I'll speak for my school: I've only been at the school for 6 years and we currently only have 2 playing in college. I make a point to keep up with their careers after high school. I attend games for each and talk with them on occasion to check on them. You will also see them working out with our current team during the summer and getting touches on the ball at practice when they can and want. On the other side, we also keep a good relationship with girls not playing in college. There are alumni at almost all home games. We even have a gig for alumni. I pay the college girls $10 a match to call the lines for the varsity games. This way parents can watch their daughters and not worry about calling lines. We also benefit from great line judges! Also, what college kid can't use $10. It is a win-win situation for us. We also have an Alumni Night every season where we invite former players and coaches to a game and introduce them before the match. We have a little meet and greet prior to the match and everyone seems to love catching up.
  3. Calling it now... CAK will not win the state championship. #5 will play where she best helps the team, at right side. Sullivan South wins the state championship unless a team can shutdown #9, if a team blocks her, she shuts down and they don't win. Also, ORCAT, you're nuts.
  4. Actually, Farragut has 2 freshmen better than yours. The middle and the outside that sometimes plays rightside.
  5. The district has a set protocol for ties. For example, in our district if the same record exists the 2 teams are conference co-champs and then for district tournament seeding we will go to head to head then games won/lost then points...the norm. It is not decided by the TSSAA, it is the district coaches. A few years ago this happened in District 1-AAA and they do a coin toss...they look at nothing they just flip a coin.
  6. Just throwing my 2 cents in, I played big time college ball and won ALOT of games and my coach never once used "adult language" towards me or my team...so no, it does not sound like college ball to me. I also coached at the college level and none of that language was used by me or my head coach. That's all.
  7. In my experience the coach has always picked my position for me and when I've coached, I've picked positions. I'm sure that every coach has his or her team's best interest in mind. As far as club goes, I'm not even touching that with my opinion.
  8. Wow, back off the CAK coach. He does a great job. Also, I'm going to refer to the "big girl" as #5, I'm sure she'd appreciate that more. She's a great right side and if she were on my team, I'd play her there too. High school ball is dominated by the outsides and any coach with a brain would put her on the right side. She's much, much better on the right side than she is the middle. There, I've voiced my opinion you all can go back to trashing coaches and other teams.
  9. Coach Sherry Hooks MUST be on this list. She is #2 in the state of TN with over 900 wins and was a recent inductee to the TSSAA Hall of Fame. She made 18 trips to the state tournament in 21 years at Sullivan South. She had 3 state championships and 2 state runner-up teams. I believe that's all that needs to be said. With Thurman and Shaffer both retired, Catherine Neeley is the only coach you can put above her.
