  1. Most around the program would probably assume it is Anderson's. CA has not held a head football coaching search in over 20 years (Mote), so interested to see if they stay in house again.
  2. Why does Murphy not do All-State team? I know he does Pre-season for his book, but he knows what goes on all over, thought he would do one.
  3. I believe a lot of good football players were left off the list, and always are as the ones who choose it haven't seen a lot of them play, but just go off what they have heard. I think coaches should be able to nominate their players, send in highlight film so they can actually see for themselves rather than going off what they hear. From games you attended personally, list players or numbers if you don't know their names of players you saw that impressed you. I can do Region 4A. I would have to list the following players are difference makers in that region for their teams...DJ Taylor - Huntland (Mr. Football Back Semifinalist, Wake Forest Commit, listed on the sports writers All-State team as LB...he is going to Wake as LB, but in my honest opinion he was more dominant in the region as a running back running for over 2000 yards, Region MVP), Brandon Moore - Fayetteville (All-state selection last year as DB I believe, but was left off this year, He was Most Valuable Back for the region, Shifty and I believe accounted for more than 30 TD's this year, awesome special teams return player), Chase Mote - Summertown (Most Valuable Defensive player for the region, hard hitter that brings it, nose for the ball, over 150 tackles), Matt Fox - Columbia Academy (All-state selection by sports writers, Best Linemen of the region, dominant on both sides, plays hard and is physical). Just my two cents from region 4A of who I really liked and thought were the best players of the region. 2 of the 4 made it. Also, Rush Landsdale (Coach Landsdale son from CA made the sports writers All-State team. Pretty good DB, but personally I would have chosen Moore or Mote as a DB over him this season.) Others I would mention that stood out to me Austin Amour - QB for Grace, Eli Woodard - Running Back for Cornersville, Mason Williams - Linemen for Summertown. They probably all have highlight tapes on hudl, check them out and tell me what you think. Please list players from your region or that you saw that you would recommend. I'd love to watch some of their highlights on hudl.
  4. Interested to see if facilities and success correlate either way. Please rank yours from 1 to 5 (1 being the worst and 5 the best...based on what you have seen at other schools in 1A and 2A) Please rank them in the following: Stadium (1-5) Playing Surface (1-5) Locker Room (1-5) Practice Facility (Field/etc.) (1-5) Weight Room (1-5) Please feel free to comment also on specific areas if you would like or add anything that makes your unique one way or the other.
  5. OK...don't give me the everyone wants a ball speech...My question is this...How does the TSSAA split classes evenly and then get so off on regions and still have four for each region advance to play-offs. Single A has a region with four they all advance and then you have regions with anywhere from 5 to 8. Meaning you will have to win one game in the 5 team region and the 8 team region gets punished for location and has only half of them advance. It just blows my mind they can't do a better job splitting them up and making regions even. Don't give me the travel stuff either. If you make the play-offs week one as one of these schools in the 4 or 5 team regions, it will more than likely cost you money to be in the play-offs. Do other states deal with the same stuff?
  6. Any word on it. Figure somebody has to know something.
  7. Noticed TSSAA had some proposals they voted on. Does anyone know exactly what each proposal was? Proposal 1 - 193 For and 149 Against Proposal 2 - 227 For and 77 Against Proposal 3 - 156 For and 186 Against Proposal 4 - 263 For and 87 Against Proposal 5 - 126 For and 208 Against Proposal 6 - 105 For and 239 Against Proposal 7 - 258 For and 85 Against
  8. Even if Huntland upsets CA...I think Richland would also have to upset Cornersville for Huntland to make the play-offs. I just don't see it happening.
  9. It wasn't his fault...They played week 8, had a forfeit week 9, bye week was week 10, and play week 11 vs Whitwell. Not much of a choice for not playing the last few weeks. Every team has a bye week, theirs just happened to fall at the wrong time with the forfeit being right there with it. Who knows maybe the time off will have done them some good. Did they have any injuries?
  10. Wondering what everyone is thinking on this one? Whitwell is probably the favorite. Copper Basin has been off for three weeks. They are playing for homefield advantage in the first round. Game is at Copper Basin, can they possibly get the win? Finishing 2nd vs 3rd is big in my opinion, as #3 will have to go to Fayetteville and will not be able to beat the Tigers. They finished 2nd in region 4 but I honestly think they maybe the best team in the region. The #2 team gets to host Summertown, who is probably the surprise of the region, but probably won't be able to handle the pressure of the play-offs in their first appearance.
  11. If I read it correctly...two way ties goes head to head...three way tie goes by overall record...but I could be wrong. Here is what TSSAA states: III. GENERAL REGULATIONS (Division I: Class 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A) A. In Class 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A, all teams are required to play all other teams within their region. The teams with the best region records shall be declared the region winner, runner-up, third and fourth place and shall advance to the first round of the football play-off series. B. In Class 6A all teams are required to play all other teams within their region. All teams in 6A shall advance to the first round of the football play-off series. All teams shall be seeded in their region based on their region records. Adjustments to the brackets will made depending on the number of teams in each region. C. If at any point when the following tie-breaking procedures are applied, one team has beaten all the other teams that are tied for a play-off position, that team shall be rated above the others. D. In the event of a tie for the region winner, runner-up, third-place, or fourth-place team, if either team(s) has defeated the other(s) in regular-season play, the team(s) shall be rated above the other(s) in the standings. (After the region winner has been determined, the tie-breaker procedure shall begin all over again starting at the top to work out the runner-up position. The procedure shall be repeated to determine the third- and fourth-place teams.) E. The following tie-breaking procedures shall be applied and all regular-season games, both region and non-region, shall count (After each of the following steps have been applied, item C above shall be applied.): 1. The team with the greatest number of victories. 2. The team who plays the greatest number of teams who win 50 percent or more of their games. 3. The team who has the greatest number of victories over teams winning 50 percent or more of their games. 4. The team whose opponents have earned the most victories. 5. The team whose opponents have received fewer defeats. 6. Coin Flip
  12. DJ is a great back...especially for 1A. However, I think if Huntland doesn't make the play-offs, which it looks doubtful they will, it will greatly hurt his chances in my opinion. Just too many good backs / QB on winning teams. Kind of like the Heisman, if your team is winning it greatly helps the cause. Good luck to DJ at Wake Forrest.
  13. Absolutely NO WAY Fayetteville finishes 4th. I think they will finish 2nd and Cornersville 3rd and Summertown 4th. They all have to play each other in the next couple weeks.
  14. I'm going with Cornersville. They have been playing really well as of late and will be hard to beat at their place. Summertown won't be able to stop both the backs from Cornersville. #7 and #15 - and upfront they get after it for young kids.
