  1. Matchups in regional play: Creekwood @ Marshall County Fairview @ Giles County CPA @ Stewart County Cascade @ Camden What are the chances that a team from District 11AA advances? I can see Camden making it through the first round. Not sure any of the other teams can hold up. Maybe Stewart County can shock the world! Should have beat CPA last year in the 2nd round of the regionals.
  2. Congrats to the 4 regional teams! Just bad luck for SC that CPA lost in the semifinals...meaning we will most likely host them in the 1st round of the regionals. The Fairview - Creekwood matchup was as tight as everyone expected. 3rd time was a charm for Fairview as Bledsoe led the way. Dotson had an ok bounce back game for Creekwood, but wasn't enough to pull out the victory. Which the main game I was there for was obviously the primetime matchup of Camden & Stewart County. The Rebels have hands down the best on-ball defender in the league with Caselli (which will be discussed at the bottom). He kept Vick contained all game. The problem for SC is not having anyone that could matchup against Diego. Cook played him tough early, but foul trouble allowed him to take over in the 2nd half. Camden's 3rd quarter run to start the half was the momentum shifter they needed. Granted, no one expected the Rebels to make it to the championship. That in itself is a testament to the hard work and dedication those boys put in every day. I am just glad that we held our own for majority of the game. Each game Saturday (boys & girls) was close, which allowed for some excitement...that's all we can ask for! #Entertainment My opinion on the awards... -Vick hands down MVP of the league...no questions -Diego should have been Tournament MVP though. If not for him, they don't win against SC in finals -Hard for me not to be biased on Coach of the Year...because Nick Wallace lost a slew of seniors from last years 2nd place team, plus lost Jacob Rose to injury in game 2 of the season (who can play any position on the floor and average 20 a game). Creekwood lost starters as well...but was Coach of the Year deserving? Its not like they dominated the District. Well Camden did dominate the district...but did coaching actually lead to the 2nd best player moving into town with Diego? Camden already had District 11AA's best player, most guys returning, and had a couple players move into town. Any way you slice it, you can argue for and against just about every coach in the top 4-5 teams...therefore, they just give it to the teams sitting at the top based on record. -Now for Defensive Player of the Year, this is where I completely DISAGREE. Nothing against Spencer from Montgomery Central, but he is not a great defender. Offensive Player of the Year? I can agree with that if they had such an award for the best offensive guy after MVP. Spencer has been one of the best players in the district, but best pure DEFENDER (like the award states)? Easily Alessandro Casselli. Anyone at the tournament games saw how he dictated the play of two of the top offensive weapons in 11AA. He held Coulter Dotson to 12pts, with 3 of the made baskets being extremely tough shots on great defense. Casselli also held Vick in check to just 14pts, with a few of them coming with Casselli on the bench. Us in Stewart County have watched lock down defense like that all season. When it comes to the first round regional games, I think Camden truly has the only chance of advancing. And even that isn't a given. District 12AA is just very tough top to bottom, and each of the top 4 could honestly make a solid run to the state tournament. What are everyone else's opinions on the tournament, awards, & upcoming regional games?
  3. What are tonight's predictions in the tournament? Here are mine... 4:00 GIRLS: Stewart County vs Creekwood Nov 29 @ CW: SC 40 - CW 47 Jan 10 @ SC: SC 34 - CW 38 Both games were tight during the regular season. My biased opinion is that the Lady Rebels win! Prediction: SC 43 - CW 39 5:30 BOYS: Fairview vs Camden Dec 13 @ FV: FV 51 - CC 81 Jan 24 @ CC: FV 60 - CC 73 Camden was without Vick in 2nd matchup. Lions will run away with this one! Prediction: CC 77 - FV 55 7:00 GIRLS: East Hickman vs Lewis County Jan 3 @ LC: EH 39 - LC 49 Feb 3 @ EH: EH: 34 - LC 32 They split on the season as both matchups were tight. But Lewic County will edge this one out! Prediction: LC 46 - EH 41 8:30 BOYS: Stewart County vs Creekwood Nov 29 @ CW: SC 52 - CW 63 Jan 10 @ SC: SC 48 - CW 53 Just like the girls, Creekwood swept the series. But in my BIASED opinion, 3rd time is a charm with the Rebels winning! SC has played well as of late. In their most recent matchup, SC shot terrible from behind the arc while CW couldn't miss. Prediction: SC 68 - CW 61

  5. Is it really that surprising that Trotter went off in public? He chased down our score clock person at the end of the game for not hitting the horn when a sub was at the scores table...even though its actually an official's job to look over and whistle a player into the ballgame. He may be viewed as a good coach in Waverly, but he is viewed as a complete prick by most fans at other schools. But in regards to Stewart County's play last night against Montgomery Central...WHAT.A.GAME! The Rebels got hit with foul trouble early as Rye Nolen got his 3rd personal at the start of the 2nd quarter. If I remember correctly, MC took a 30-14 lead and looked to be running away with it. Nolen came back in with roughly 4 minutes left in the half and helped spark a run. From that point until the start of the 4th, the Rebels went on a 30-4 run leading 44-36 starting the final frame. MC didn't give up and made a comeback in the 4th as SC made a few too many turnovers. Game was tied at 46 and MC held the ball for a minute to take the last shot. SC had a couple fouls to give and used them wisely. With 6 seconds left on the clock, Spencer for MC had a good look for the win that just didn't fall. After a quick timeout, Rebels had the ball with 2 secs. Rye Nolen tossed up a shot from just beyond halfcourt that went in and out...almost an unreal SportsCenter highlight game winner. Then we headed to OT where Casseli took over, leading the way for a 61-53 finish. Nolen & Casseli each finished with 22. Sounds like we had some close games and interesting finishes. Now can Stewart County upset Creekwood? Can anyone unseat top seeded Camden? Guess we will find out tomorrow!

Stewart County had CPA on the ropes tonight. Great game! SC had a starter leave the game injured midway through the 3rd. Plus had a few too many turnovers and missed free throws late. Make a few more FTs, a few less turnovers, and no injury and SC wins the ball game as they basically controlled it most of the game. Hats off to CPA though and good luck throughout the tourney!
  7. Marshall County came back in a thriller from 14 down. Cascade was in control all game but pressure got to them in the 4th. You could tell from the sloppy turnovers. Still a great game! Stewart County vs CPA was also a barn burner! No one really gave SC a chance, but they were in control for a large portion of the ball game shooting very well from behind the arc, better than CPA. One of SCs starters went down hurt in the 3rd while up 5, and you could sense a small momentum shift. That also made a shorter bench for the Rebels down the stretch. Even then, the rebels hung in there giving CPA everything they had. CPA hit a few more 3s in the 4th while SC went on a drought to start the 4th...plus missed some free throws. A few more made free throws and a few less turnovers late in the game and this ballgame has a different outcome. Still proud of what SC accomplished this year! Great senior class that helped this team get further than everyone else in District 11AA, as well as making it further than any men's team in school history since their jump from A to AA. Congrats to the players and coaches! Now hoping CPA makes it far in the state...makes what we did tonight look even better!
  8. Surprised Camden lost by only 2....considering Vick only scored 7. Looks like Stewart County is the last one standing from District 11AA. Tough task coming up against CPA...but this is one fun team to watch!
  9. Creekwood lost in 1st of the regional tournament tonight 52-49. Stewart County needs to take care of business against Giles County to represent 11aa in advancing. Good luck Rebels!
  10. Great team win by the Rebels last night against Camden after being swept on the season. Camden will definitely be back and at it next year, as Vick can absolutely ball. Now maybe we can get another 3rd time charm against Creekwood! When we faced them at home, we had about a 10pt lead in the 4th quarter until they made a late run. Anything can happen...why not from us?
  11. Good luck to the Rebels tonight as they take on Hickman County. If they can win out in district play, they could be looking at the #2 seed come tourney time! But anything can still happen with so much congestion in the middle. There are only 2 things for certain...Creekwood is #1 & Fairview is last. Everything else is fair game...
  12. Just now getting back into the swing of basketball season as district play will begin to heat up. The rebels have something special going on in Stewart County. It's been some up & downs early but they have shown that they can compete with anyone. Lost to Creekwood by 6 in a game the SC could have very easily won. Was up 10 at one point in the 4th until Creekwood made a run. SC missed a lot of chip shots under basket, but a great game to watch. After watching Creekwood, I honestly do not think they will repeat as champs. Could be wrong here but there is a lot of undisciplined basketball. Too many kids worried about getting their own shots up instead of finding the open man. Definitely a lot of talent, but can they gel together down the stretch? After a great showing, SC then dropped one to Lewis Co by 1 in a terrible game. Just could not get anything going for them. They followed up that loss with two blowout wins...a 32 point victory over rival Houston County and a 37 point win over Hickman. In the Hickman Co game, our men had 70 going into the 4th quarter, but had already pumped the brakes giving some of the young guys some minutes. Camden on Friday will be another big test for these guys, but with our depth & perimeter shooting, SC can compete with anyone on their schedule... GOOD LUCK REBELS!
  13. Creekwood up on Stewart County 55-21 at half
  14. I'm just hoping we can make things interesting and keep it close. If we take the loss, so be it...try and win tomorrow to keep away from CPA in regionals
  15. Lol I know there's no chance...but anything can happen. Creekwood is the team with all the pressure to keep the perfection going. No pressure with the Rebels because no one expects them to win
