  1. Well...I don't know much about Collierville and how many times they have been to State, but as for Farragut, while we are disappointed, we are not unrealistic. It is so hard to get there every year, and we know that. The last time we did not make it--it precipitated a 4 year run of state titles. I guess my point is--disappointment can prompt a huge comeback and provide a lot of incentive. Congrats to Jefferson County. I was honestly happy for them. To go for the first time is a special feeling and they will always remember the day they beat Farragut to get to state. They deserve this and I hope they go all the way.

Haha--that's funny. You have a great imagination. Put your big boy pants on and quit whining. Nobody particularly thrilled with the calls--seemed pretty even on both sides of the ball. Well, except for the catcher interference that does not seem to get called...

BTW--no excessive mound celebrations tonight. Been there, done that...bigger goals to accomplish.

Great game tonight. Both teams played great defense and pitched well. Loved the walk up songs--but a tad loud at times. Nice facility --even if I did have to sit on the sidewalk:) Good luck Friday to both teams. Hope we both make it to State!!
  5. Farragut is, indeed, still in it. Facing Arlington in the first round. The big news is Sevier County getting in for the first time. No HVA. No Bearden. Let's see if Farragut can get to the finals for the fourth year in a row. They have been to State 16 of the last 17 years. Nine in a row at this point. Can't argue with success.
  6. Have not seen him play; however, as is the way with a lot of pitchers who throw heat--it depends on his control. If he is in control, it will be difficult. Farragut is patient at the plate, tho. They know how to wait for the mistakes. Plus, they are very experienced with good pitchers. They probably see more than most because the coach seeks out the opportunities to play a difficult schedule. Morristown East has had a successful year--wonder how they stack up?
  7. Alford is the real deal. Great kid. Hope he continues to get the attention he deserves. Farragut is getting hot at the right time. It will be awesome if these two teams can continue to state.
  8. Who knew it would be so hard to get out of district 4AAA? Farragut outlasted Maryville in an elimination game to advance. They survived. Now, let's see if the momentum can carry them to another district championship. Either way, the two favorites are once again moving on Region. Good luck. East Tennessee is looking good.
  9. Farragut beat Gibbs in a close game on Throwback night; however, they used 6 pitchers to do it. Gave the start to an upcoming freshman and moved on from there. Gibbs' pitcher did well against their hitters. I wonder how their bats would fair against the top pitchers on the Farragut team. I still see Farragut winning out, but it won't be easy. Run support is the key for the team. Powell has the pitcher most concerned about in Alford. All around great player. It's going to be fun to watch this play out!
  10. Farragut traveled to middle TN to face off against Mt. Juliet. Terrific facility. Good fan attendance. Admirals took care of business winning 6-0. Mt. Juliet seemed a little out of sync but it is always good to face the teams that might be in the state tournament. Strong bats and strong arms for Farragut. The kids were ready to play.
  11. Farragut is tops again in District 4AAA going into post season. Can they finish strong? Who is going to stop them?
  12. Looks like Farragut is going to win District, but HVA bats are getting hot right now. Bearden is struggling a bit--pitching depth an issue for them. The surprise player for Farragut is Painter. The kid has the best batting avg in Farragut history at this point, is playing a solid third base, and is the main relief/closing pitcher. They may need him to go more innings on the mound, but not a problem bc a solid infielder off the bench is Rinehart. The end of season is closing in fast. Sprint to the finish!
  13. While the Maryville field is nice, the parking situation is annoying. Hopefully that will be corrected as the stages of the project are completed. Maryville showed guts in trying to come back in their 12-4 loss to the Admirals. However, the Ads really helped them out when starting pitcher had a rough inning. Going to have to be more consistent if the Ads want to get back to state.
  14. Farragut lost a top arm with Keyes going down, but plenty on the bench who'll step up. Bearden seems to be coming into their own with some young talent emerging and Beam leading the attack. Problem is--as the season wears on--he will get tired. Very hard to pitch and bat or play and bat every inning of every game. HVA, tho, looks very beatable. Lost their entire infield from last year and the reload is not that impressive--yet. Lloyd is good but he needs defense behind him. Farragut still team to beat--they just need to start clicking. The beginning of the season is just that--beginning. The end is what it's all about.
  15. Don't worry. Bearden will be there soon enough. They are very strong, even if they did just get trounced by Maryville. It's going to be a horse race in the district. Remember, tho--Farragut did compete for state title last year, and the year before and won, and the year before...get the drift?
