  1. Volunteer did not list the grade for any of its team on TrackWrestling, but if they did, Carpenter would have been #37. Shows how impressive this group is! By the way, the top 40 list on the link will update daily, so there will certainly be changes as more matches are recorded. Maybe Stamper or Smith will make the list if they have the opportunity to wrestle at the tail end of the season?
  2. Nope - the list is free. You can also see everything on the website for one hour at no cost / obligation.
  3. There is an impressive crop of freshmen in Tennessee this year, led by Trey Bates from Beech. Cleveland and Mccallie are especially loaded for the next four years. Cleveland has two of the top three and three of the top nine. Mccallie has four in the top 15. Following is a link that shows the top 40 freshmen in the state, as ranked by RankWrestlers.com: http://rankwrestlers.com/TNFreshmen.php. Their names will be fixtures in TN wrestling for a long time!
  4. There will certainly be weight class changes before then, but for fun, we ranked the toughest weight classes to place in state as determined by the average total score on RankWrestlers.com of the top seven wrestlers for each weight class (we assign weight class by where they wrestled most frequently over the past seven matches): AAA: 126, 152, 120, 160, 182 A-AA: 132, 220, 152, 182, 195 DII: 285, 145, 220, 152, 195
  5. Dende and Reiniche are now on the list, which requires a wrestler to reach a total score of at least 99.0% on RankWrestlers. It is a very difficult accomplishment to achieve. Brackett is not quite there yet (98.5%), but he could very well be there before the end of the season, as the list is updated daily along with the rankings. Coach Peck is correct that this is based on this high school season's results from matches listed in TrackWrestling (not on offseason tournaments). Most of the teams in Tennessee do a nice job of keeping their TrackWrestling results updated, so it can provide a helpful objective view of how things stand in the state and how TN wrestlers compare with others around the country. Obviously no one really knows what will happen, as experts are surprised every day, but it is fun to see what the wrestlers have achieved over the course of the season. The total score is a combination of an adjusted win percentage (based on the quality of opponent and type of win), the three best wins of the season and head to head adjustments. RankWrestlers.com has a one-time free one-hour trial for those that may be interested in checking it out. You will see that it is not a joke or scam, but a very interesting website loaded with helpful information.
  6. The pasted table did not turn out right, so I edited the original post.
  7. Congrats to the following wrestlers, who had some of the biggest wins in Tennessee over the past weekend (RankWrestlers.com rankings listed in parentheses): Kyle Burns (Bearden) over Bryson Hux (#1 A-AA) Caleb Eachus (Cleveland) over Isaac Coffman (#1 A-AA) Judah Duhm (Mccallie School) over Christian Salter (#1 AAA) Drew Nicholson (Christian Brothers) over William Diehl (#2 AAA) Raymond Eason (Father Ryan) over Michael Elkin (#2 DII) Nathan Wysong (Science Hill) over Caleb York (#2 A-AA) Calvin Martin (William Blount) over Bryce Pond (#2 AAA)
  8. Twenty five wrestlers in Tennessee have achieved the status of RankWrestlers All-American (see the complete national list here). 9. Starting to get a good number of matches on the record for the 2016-17 season, and the team races are coming into focus a bit. There will certainly be more changes in the coming weeks, as the season is still young, but following are the top teams right now according to RankWrestlers.com: AAA: (1) Bradley Central, (2) Beech, (3) Tennessee, (4) Cleveland, (5) Knoxville Halls, (6) Wilson Central, (7) Blackman, (8) William Blount, (9) Summit, (10) Gibbs A-AA: (1) Page, (2) Pigeon Forge, (3) Greenbrier, (4) Forrest, (5) Alco, (6) Hixson, (7) Greeneville, (8) Chattanooga Central, (9) Red Bank, (10) Sullivan East DII: (1) Christian Brothers, (2) Father Ryan, (3) Mccallie School, (4) Montgomery Bell Academy, (5) Baylor School, (6) Nolensville, (7) Briarcrest Christian, (8) Brentwood Academy, (9) Weeb School of Knoxville, (10) Franklin Road Academy
