  1. Are we talking just Antioch??
  2. Is everyone saying here that this hire was to avoid accusations of racial bias? This whole hiring season has been a fiasco. I understand from reliable sources that these hires were not principal choices but decisions up the food chain. Just when Metro seems to have a rejuvenation, it slips into politics.
  3. I don't buy all of that argument. First, I do not recall an exodus of "Metro" students from privates back to publics because they could not handle the workload. And I know from personal experience in Williamson County privates that they "carried" their own players who did not care for the heavy homework load (I think it is specious argument that it is even beneficial). Kids went to privates for exposure. These days, right or wrong, a Metro kid does not need a private for that purpose anymore. Colleges find players now, whether through Huddl accounts, social media, playmaker "academies", and tv exposure through espn. And, with this area's booming population, privates do not have the need they once had to poach players from the publics. It is a changing environment.
  4. LOL. Heck yea it goes on. Privates and a number of Metro schools. And yea, they are reported. It is almost impossible to prove and the TSSAA has little appetite or resources to chase the complaints. On top of it all, these private football camps are merchants of players too as well as some youth football programs. Only way to fix the public side is to stick to strict residential zones and all players have to prove by utility bills their residence. Privates? At least drop them in a separate league for postseason competition but allow play during the season. I agree with what Bleacher said awhile back that he can keep his kids in his program; good coaches can. It doesn't mean though the wolves won't be at the gates. It will get a whole lot worse than better. Doubt it will ever get better. And, wait until school choice and vouchers get involved lolol.
  5. sorry fan. I been around longer than I care to remember. So wotkinprogress explained what I meant better than me. I have a bit of an ace to grind with NPA though and these other groups that peddle services to high school players and now middle school students. But that is another thread lolol. Anyway. Best of luck to Coach F. He deserves a shot with Hillsboro. Anxious to just get the season started.

  7. I think Hillsboro is going to be answering a lot of questions to the TSSAA in the coming years unless conflict of interests are resolved.
  8. Hillsboro has always played tough schedules under Clayton. No excuses for the next coach. If what everyone says is true, not sure who applied but it is insulting to put on a dog and pony show. I huess I am over the admin BS. As far as MF, excellent credentials. But, sucks for other teams while he has NPA. I can see all sorts of conflicts there. lol
  9. To FB's comments, I don't know the reasons Coach Hall was let go BUT he should not have been let go for a first-year 0-11 season. Any coach deserves sometime to establish a program and at the end of the day, if the coach is running a clean program, helping kids and preparing them for on and off the field, then in my opinion a 500 record ought to be good enough at least without the opportunity have shortcomings called out and given time to improve. At the pro level and to a lesser extent, a W/L record can be a principal factor. At the high school level, it should just be one of several factors. When the W/L is the determinative factor, cheating, recruiting, grade fixing, parents shopping kids, and development academies will be everywhere. Yea, I know. Seems we are there already.
  10. Thanks workinprogress. well said. Well, how it all plays out may show what all of it is about. I hope the next coach gets more of a chance than Woodward received. What I know right now is that Woodward is a good coach and that the reason for dismissal is not telated to his performance as a coach. I hope we all find out the real reason (maybe what Golden Ticket said who knows) to clear the air for all coaches and admin going forward. High school has always been the last vestige of pure competition and I see that slowly eroded.
  11. Then express your comment in a way that doesn't get you thrown off CoachT. Don't blame me for that. Better yet, under these circumstances, you tell me WHY this principal let this coach go after 1 yr on the job. I am open to other reasons....waiting
  12. It's wrong. It is not right for any coach, absent some specific wrongdoing, to be fired on a principal's whim. That principal is only there because of my tax dollars. acoach stipends do not even begin to cover the time, sweat, and headaches that go with the job. The sole compensation is the sense of satisfaction of accomplishment for the kids. Everybody is dancing around the elephant in the locker room. Woodward lost his job because he was white. And that is sad and sucks. Looks likis the new school chief did not know Metro does not have racial divides nowhere near deep as in Baltimore. At this rate, in 5 years, no one will be coaching in Metro unless they pass a certain "litmus" test.
  13. workinprogress.....sounds like you nailed it.
  14. I am proud of those students! Sad when they can see what is right and what is wrong but the administrators cannot. The student spokesperson/football player was well-spoken. Those are good kids and they deserve opportunities like all our students. I tell you, I do not know how Coach Woodward can keep a dry eye after that show of support from the team and school. We should all be so lucky to have that kind of support in our careers. Thanks to the news media for being the eyes and ears for the public.
