The Giles Co. left fielder had to make the play of the year in the entire state tonight. Bottom of the 7th, tie game, and Marshall Co. has Watkins up to bat. With the short porch in left, Watkins hits a ball that keeps carrying. The left fielder is backing up and the ball hits his glove as he hits the fence. He flips over the fence, and Marshall Co. thinks that they have won the game on a walk off shot. The Giles Co. guy jumps up holding the ball in his glove. (Now whether he didn't just pick the ball up off the ground and hold it up I don't know, but there was no proof that he didn't hold onto it.) After conferring and a lot of arguing between coaches, the umps rule it an out, and Giles Co. scores 3 in the 8th to get the W.

I think what he meant was, way to glide right through a weak district with little competition. NONE of these district teams will be in the Burro.

Let's back up again to this comment. Tell SH, MC, GC, and Page now that this is a weak district. Ask SH and GC if it is was tough to battle back through the losers bracket and win 3 straight games to get to the district championship game. Ask MC and Page if they battled until the last out. I didn't see any of the games over at MC but I heard how good they were. I watched all games at SH. Some very good baseball has been played in this district this season and this district tournament. Another good game should be played tomorrow night at SH. Spring Hill and Giles County for the district championship!

To the 2010 Seniors that ended their high school baseball career this week in District 12AA best of luck to you whether you do or don't continue your career at the next level and the future!

    • I think the OC is a guy the he brought from Fulton with him. I am not sure though. I have heard a lot of conflicting information. It seems like a couple of coaches that he hired have since been let go.

    • If someone needed their grades pumped up surley it would have to be for someone needing it to get to another level. If your intending on going to work right after high school it wouldn't matter. Why would someone in their right mind think if they screwed it up in high school that their ready for college. It has to be for an athlete to get them over the fence to get in and from that point the school their going to will cheat them through the rest of the way for their athletic skills just like the rest.
    • The new school will be on that road behind Home Depot next to a church. I'm wondering if this could take from Greenback or could it be the end of Greenback, they only have 200 students.
    • Yeah it will take the county kids in that area that were going to lenior city. They will move down to 4a I think
