GWAVE1
I do not think Hville can keep up with Maryville.
mondo44
From an Hville view: We will be playing the most storied program in TN prep football history. The thing I admire most about Maryville is they win with "regular" kids, year after year they don't have a lot of the D1's everybody talks about. Year in year out most fundamentally sound team in the state. Huge challenge for our guys but I know Coach Hat will have our guys well prepared and ready to go. FBEmeritus
Gary, is that you? This was my first thought. I hope the T$$AA takes this game a serious as GQ & staff will and the knowledge Maryville posters do. Last year these MHS kids got ripped off by an inept officiating crew when the game was so tough it should have not been decided by a penalty.. We know the Rebels are not going to overlook Hendersonville. Those kids have had a great season and want to be 6A champions badly. That has always been another positive of the Maryville Program, respecting every opponent. Hville will be ready for Mville make no mistake about that. Congrats to both teams but what Maryville has accomplished since 1997 Is something a book should be written about.
TheRealTruth
Well said, Mondo44. I believe Hendersonville is a very fundamentally sound and well coached team as well. I do, however, believe Maryville has had their share of D1 talent through the years but, does win consistently with their "regulars" as a team. RatPack
I think Maryville's tough game tonight was the best thing that could have happened for them and the worst thing that could have happened for Hendersonville.Looking at Hendersonville's season, they had a lot of close games but Maryville had blown threw some really good teams and needed that tough game to stay hungrey . That game last night was exactly what the Rebels needed and Hendersonville didn't! I haven't watched any games of H'ville, but for any team to beat those guys out of Memphis they must be pretty good no matter how bad the opponent was..... I have read/listened to all the talk on here and elsewhere regarding Maryville opponents this year as being "cotton candy" types, but look at who is in the Championship games next week from the Knoxville/Maryville area: West, Alcoa, and Webb....all of whom Maryville dominated this year with big wins. Alcoa and West's only losses are to Maryville, and Webb has only lost two games getting the big game this year. As long as the officiating crew this year keeps it honest, and knows the rules, I think the Rebels will roll though they will not overlook H'ville...........GO REBELS!!!................RatPack............... RatPack
Hey RW87, thanks for getting us the tickets....didn't know they were going to sell them at the gate where we go in.....tell A thanks for running them down there to us!...............RP................ And yes lets bring all the gold back to East TN next week!!! Pulling for my friends son Xavier Hawkins and the rest of the Fulton Falcons!!! Oh and to notredame66.....The best of each division is who those schools are and rightfullys so....oh and I heard that the State of TN Dept of Tourism is starting to give directions for people traveling towards Middle TN that they have to go through Maryville before they can make it to Cookeville and points beyond.......LOL!!!! Besides, I would put Fulton, West, and Alcoa up against anything 7AAA has to offer and they would do what Maryville did last night..........end of story.......you have next year...... BarneySox2007
The worst thing that can happen is all the cheap talk about just showing up next week and picking up the trophy from a group of couch potatoes that have taken on a sideline career as a football know it all. Last night I was listening to the Fulton game and the announcer made a comment about one of the banners that read "Welcome to our practice" or something along those lines and they found their selves in a fight for their lives and who would have ever predicted that. I expected that game to be so lopsided that I dreaded hearing the score. I have a very tribal knowledge of the History of Maryville Football since the mid 1960's since I have seen most of them and I can personally point out all the loses from that time forward where chickens were counted before they were hatched and we ended up with eggs on out faces. You never know the situations or injuries the other team may have had during the season and get surprised so I hope the players don't get caught into this trap and think all we have to do is show up or they might go home empty handed again.
