That's all it takes. It has happened before in Memphis. When the new principal got the job at Memphis East, they immediately got rid of Wayne Randall and hired the current HC. Wayne Randall had built the program to the point that they were a perennial post season team. He coached the East Mustangs to 2 championship games, and won one of them prior to him losing his HC position. The explanation given was ..."We want to go into a new direction." There are other examples, but that is the one that I am familiar with.

 

If he is let go ... there is precedent. The principal doesn't have to give a reason. If a principal so chooses to hire another coach, they can.
