It will never happen. There are numerous middle schools that operate just fine without being sanctioned by the TSSAA. On that note....other than the catastrophic insurance, there is no advantage to being a sanctioned TMSAA school. As far as the schools that are not TMSAA, parents fill out either the proof of insurance form or affidavits claiming they will accept responsibility in the case of an injury. Im not sure what the current minimum claim for TSSAA is for catastrophic insurance, but the last time I heard it was around 35k....something you hope you will never have to use. If the TSSAA provided a playoff system comparative to football there would be more schools happy to pay the annual fee to be sanctioned but they dont. We are currently in a confernece where all of the high schools are sanctioned but only half of the middle schools are. Schools have grown smart about shelling money out every year for nothing (so to speak). Hope this helps.
