Welllllllll how is it going in the weight room?

Anyone still running it?

Is the team still running in general? Got to keep up the endurance and this is not a time for slacking. Next years playoff run has started!

Well considering its Christmas break the weight program probably isn't going on rn. Riverdale will most likely go the average 7-3 6-4 again next year and find a way to lose in the 2nd round

Christmas break never stopped it before. It was arraigned so that the team could lift for free at a gym in town. There was even sign in sheets there and kids that missed over 50% did not play and got moved down at least one level. So if you were 1st string and missed more than 50% you were down to second string until you worked your way up again.

Things like that is why some teams win and some don't.

I'm sure you can send a resume to the head coach explaining your qualifications as a strength and conditioning coach. At some point he'll realize that he can't win without your approval and hire you to do things the right way.

I'd go ahead and include your qualifications as a defensive and offensive coordinator. I'm sure he will eventually get around to seeing the light in those areas as well.

Stop living in the past! Many Many things have changed since Rankin, it's the reason he left.

Some folks still have those values and work ethics. Part of that is why Oakland beat Maryville this year. Their biggest problem is it needed to be a deeper squad.

Working your ENTIRE team this way is why some folks win and just reload year after year.

You can bet the farm that Coach Q works his ENTIRE team the same and not just the starters. Bear Bryant knew that also. Sabine is doing pretty well with Alabama doing that now also.

High School teams can be run like college programs. Just depends on the staff and administration.

The main reason Rankin left is his 'cover' of the school superintendent retired! That meant NO RECRUITING anymore. New Super was from Smyrna and not R'dale!

OK as I am feeling kind toward giving children what they want this time of year.

High School ball, all European team for the Military schools in Europe that won the World championship against the all Pacific military high schools. My normal game schedule was Central London, Evareax France, SHAEF Belgium, Weisbaden Germany. Rhein Main Germany. This while playing for Lakenheath England.

Pacific schools, Panama Canal zone, Hawaii (3 schools), Osaka Japan, Tokeyo Japan, Seoul South Korea, and two schools from the Phillipeans! Thank You US taxpayers for flying us to games. We went to different countries like most teams do to counties here.

Recruited by Woody Haynes at Ohio State, Joe Paterno at Penn State, and finally Bear Bryant at Alabama. Went in the military though and started my playing career in Vietnam.

From there I walked on with the Jacksonville Sharks after getting out of the Navy in the old World Football League until it folded. Played at Edmonton in Canada until sold to the Atlanta Falcons. Played there a year until getting a broken neck in a car wreck. I like being able to walk so I quit playing football.

Started college and went into the Army National Guard. Got married and had a son who started all 4 years at R'dale under Rankin. I ran his 'conditioning program' and it was sort of successful. When he graduated between his three main lifts his total weight lifted was over 1200 pounds. Also had him running a mile a day with a 75 pound pack AFTER his regular football practice.

My OLD style is practice hard and work HARDER! After that the playing part is easy and fun.

As to Coaching, I let my teaching certificate go over 38 years ago and like being retired. I put in 32 years in the military so I figure I EARNED it.

Now turn about is fair play, what is YOUR qualifications to dispute what I write? What have you done so far?

Riverdale loses some key guys but should also be returning a pretty good core group.  This year the coach gets a mulligan, even though it was hard not to be disappointed at times.

The team should be better conditioned and doing some of the little things better next year (like being able to consistently kick an extra point).  If they don't contend in this slightly watered down region then definitely cause for concern.

Do they have a 2017 schedule yet:?

Here are some numbers that should give you some food for thought for next year. 23 seniors will be lost to graduation and 22 juniors will be moving up. The younger players will dominate the majority of the roster with 36 sophomores moving up and 35 freshman stepping up into a possible varsity roll. They should have a good foundation with a returning starting QB and running back corps. The pressure will be on the staff to improve but more than that show that they are building a program.

It's encouraging to see the large numbers in the 2017 soph/junior classes.  Need to keep those guys in the program and try to get some of the older guys back out for football.

Most importantly the off-season program needs to be stellar, and Iron Warriors need to be everywhere.  Need to make sure that accountability is returned to every aspect of the program and that there is competition for every role.

Have to quit accepting excuses on defense and special teams.  Some of these things should begin to show substantial improvement in year two.  Hope everyone is dialed in and ready to make that happen.  Actually pretty excited to see what Coach can do.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
