Did Alcoa get short changed in All State selections?

There is no doubt #77 belongs on this team. He was preseason All-State and had a great season with numerous dominating performances. One has to wonder just what the selection committee is looking at.

#77 dominated several guys that made the All state team  from Liberty , seqch. and CAK.  I know they didn't want 7 Alcoa guys on the team but if a kid's outstanding season justifies it , then he should be on it. Especially when he owned several guys that made the team.

This has been brought up many times, but if Alcoa is that much better than the other 3A teams year after year, what is the point of sticking around and not moving to at least 4A? I haven't seen a good explanation on here. It's "because they can" or "paste youtube video here."

Up until recently , they always played up a classification. The AD mentioned they might move up to 4A next year. The following week several local 4A schools bumped up to 5A. Maybe that was just a coincidence. The decision was made to stay in 3A where they are in the bottom half as far as enrollment goes. They also play a 6A team with 15 state championships every yr and scheduled other local 6A teams until those teams took them off the schedule.

That being said, this topic is about specific kids that may have been short changed after an incredible individual season. Who knows if Alcoa will be as good next year or the year after, only time will tell. But a couple of kids demonstrated on the field they belonged on the All State team with dominating performances against players that were named to the team.

Maybe not the best explanation, but I hope its better than "because they can" or a youtube video.

They probably will be, it's been proven over a long period of time. Plus the fans seem to feel they may get some that would have been bound for Maryville.

Yes, it's an all state topic but it relates to how dominant Alcoa has been. And some of the best likely competition is now in 4A.

Your explanation was much better than what followed. ðŸ‘

That explanation has been posted on here for years. Now you are going to act as if you understand it.... Funny!

I think 4A on this side of the bracket will really be between Greenville and few others that may crop up every so often ( watch out for Eliz ). Fulton went 5A, Central went 5A and so did Catholic.  The east side of 4A looks light for the next couple of yrs. In the current classification format with 6 classes, Catholic, Central, Fulton and Gville. have represented this side of the bracket every yr. All will be in 5A next yr except Gville.

The other side of the bracket hasn't done real well in 4A ( 1-6 since 2010)

Score for those games where:

Gville 60- 12 Trez

Gville 37-0 Maplewood

Fult  39-14 Covington

Fult 54-14 Giles co

FUlton 29-  20 Trez

Catholic 48-8 Pearl Cohn

Memphis east 27- 3 Central

Trez, Giles Co. Covinton and PC will be 3A next year. Fulton , Catholic and Central will be 5A.

Only Gville  Maplewood and Memphis East remain in 4A.

The road to a 3A title will be tougher than the road to a 4A title for the next couple of years.

No disrespect to my Greeneville buds. I do agree 100%!
