Worst officiated match I have seen, period! On that note Science Hill came out and wrestled their butts off, so that first comment is to take nothing away from those kids. A few calls in the favor of THS and you have a different result. But as I've always said you should never be in a position to where the ref can decide anything. Oh by the way go ahead and write THS off, a lot of people must have short memories and obviously forgotten what they accomplished last year.

Will THS be able to win more than 4 individual matches in a dual with Cleveland or Bradley if they wrestle all of their starters?  Winning 4 matches would be 29% which to me is not a very good performance.

That's the beauty of this sport, you never know till you step on the mat. Did anyone expect Hicks to drop a match to Bowers? I would guess not. I'm definitely not saying THS would beat either team, just simply stating that the potential exists for it. To answer your question, who knows until they square off. Science Hill is no slouch, granted they have lost to both Bradley and Cleveland, all we really have to go off is the past and what's on paper. I definitely agree that winning 4 matches won't cut the mustard. I honestly feel that THS unfortunately had a really bad off night, better now than down the road.

Our heavier weights, most teams has a shot at us. Just the way it is this year.

Most teams struggle with having really strong wrestlers in the upper weight classifications.  Frequently those kids are multi sport athletes (football, baseball, rugby, etc...) and do not focus on wrestling like the kids in the lower weights.  Even for the very best athletes it's difficult to be really good at a sport when you only focus on it for 3 months per year.  Personally I wish that all kids were multi sport athletes in high school.  It just seems to make them more well rounded both athletically and socially.

    • The only thing that was said at half time of the 45-0 game was Coach Story, he said: "I know y'all have been out there a lot, but kick-off team, y'all need to get down there faster!" Then he and the other coaches proceeded to go into the coaches office and we all went nuts!  It was the only time I can ever remember coaches not saying anything at half time. Definitely a great memory!!!
    • Boyd could actually be a grade below what he is now, but his parents didn't see the need to "redshirt" him like the other city school down the road would have pushed for....

    • Who invited the First Family of Hartsville?
    • When Danny was a senior he was the quarterback on the 82 team and also the placeholder on extra points. At the end of the game Heritage scored a touchdown with very little time left and went ahead 9-0. On the following extra point Danny rose up and threw a perfect pass to one of his receivers which made it 11-0 and Heritage's first win against Maryville since the series started in 77. Maryville fans were highly ticked off because they felt like it was rubbing salt in the wound. The following year when both teams met again at Maryville  the Rebels ran away with the game and after the first couple of touchdowns they went for two points after each score for a pay back and the score was 45-0 at halftime. The following Monday Bob Gilbert the sports eiditor for the local paper bashed Maryville in an article called the Humilation of Teenagers and tore into Maryville even though he was a graduate of the school. Those were the good ole days when Heritage had decent teams and the rivalry between them and Maryville was a fun event to see.
