Over 40 coaches have applied for the job and there are some extremely strong candidates.  Applicants are from inside and outside the program, as expected.   Top candidates are interviewing at the school over the next few days, and the school will name a coach in relatively short order, I suspect.   Clarksville Academy's move to D2 in talent-rich Montgomery county, and the plan the school is putting in place to support the move, have been very attractive to a number of qualified coaches.

If that is the case, and they do hire a good coach, they will cause some of the public school coaches to lose some sleep. Being able to offer financial aid now, and if the program is being mapped out for success, CA could very well be the football destination for Montgomery and surrounding counties. Be interesting to watch.

Which is all the more reason why I find it weird that Todd Hood would leave CA for a public school that potentially could be affected by the Academy's DII status.  Maybe CA does not have a great plan mapped out and Hood could see that?  At one time, CA was one of a very few privates that were not going DII, then all of a sudden, they go DII.

I'd say it was "all of a sudden"...they let the deadline to declare DII lapse, then waited until the new regions were announced to "all of a sudden" appeal to TSSAA to better their schedule...and make a mess of all their region opponent's schedules. No way that they should have been allowed to examine their schedule as well as the prospective DII competition, then choose the easier path after the deadline expired.

The TSSAA has been trying with all their might to get the privates out of DI, and when CA offered to move to D2, the TSSAA jumped on it. As far as the new region getting harder by moving to 2A, I can't imagine it was much worse than having Huntingdon and Wayne Co. in your region, as CA did in 1-A.  I'd think as vehemently as the publics had complained about having to play the privates, they would be overjoyed that CA jumped, even if it did cause a coach to have to juggle the schedule a bit. CA hadn't exactly been dominating all opponents in DI, though it had been competitive in most sports.  There were a handful of privates that seem to have spoiled the fun for everyone else, but that's another topic.   Regardless, it's over and done, right or wrong, by the TSSAA.

Personally, I think the school is sitting on a gold mine of talent in Montgomery County, and if they execute the right plan with the right coaches, a sleeping giant may be awakened by the move to D2.

Cmcss has some of the best scoring schools in the state. I really don't see a ton of athletes going there. TH left for a reason, he's not dumb. I could eat my words but i just don't see them having the kind of success in d2 that they had playing the mcewens and perry counties the last few years.

If the right coach is hired, I do see kids going there. The list of current city coaches isn't exactly stellar.

    • hey goat! how’s monterey looking this year?!
    • several people actually. they said “snoball, do you know who railbird81 is on coacht?” I said, “never heard of her.” they said, “you ought to check it out they’re getting fired up on there like the old days.” well, you can imagine my disappointment when I came here expecting sharp, witty banter and all i found was more akin to toddlers slap fighting. and what looks like 1 guy/gal talking to themselves with multiple accounts.
    • Shopping? His family is loaded and he's 6'6 I'm pretty sure he could start anywhere in upper East TN,So no need to shop. Word is Witten got caught trying to work him out on campus and some 7 on 7 while playing athletics for Sullivan East. Word got around pretty quick and Someone turned them into TSSAA.
    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
