It's hard to tell what SS thinks because he MUST be politically correct all of the time. He always tells me "this is a message board and people give their opinions" (he says that when I respond to a post I don't like). Apparently that applies to everyone but me because he attempts to dismiss everything I say as if he's "superior" to me. He spends much time talking "down" to me which I find amusing, since I don't think he, or anyone, is better than me or anyone else. Now get ready, because here comes "rebelman" to his defense.

Poor thang. Need a Kleenex? :( I still love ya, Cats. Life just wouldn't be the same without my CoachT arguing buddy.

I suggest that get out more and travel West.  You'll find plenty of players that has that athleticism.

I think the discussion has come down to what is the difference between a great basketball player and a great athlete.

I will bet my life Tee could care less about the issue. He wants to win the ring with his Band of Brothers. Ego is not one of his character traits. He is a team player.

With that said, I really do think Tee's ability as a basketball player is being over shadowed  by his supreme athleticism. I contend a great ball player plays offense and defense at an extremely high level and also has a high basketball IQ. Watch Tee on defense tomorrow and see if he shuts down his man or space on floor if playing a zone. Count the rebounds he gets against much larger opponents Watch his passing game. See how he puts himself in positions to receive a pass and score.

I do not see Tee getting dunks tomorrow. He won't lead OR in scoring. And yet his athleticism will shine through. His basketball skills will be apparent. His will and desire will be undeniable. In other words the total package for a high school player will be on display.

Does this make Tee the best player on the floor? You can decide for yourself after the game. The answer will be there for all to see. Right now, I have no earthly idea. All I know is Oak Ridge better play the game of their lives or it could get ugly.

Furthermore, look for Young, Gipson, Jones and Booker to step up their games. Our PG Smith will be pressured like never before. If I was Coach Green, I would take as much pressure off him as possible.

This post is not meant to belittle, besmirch, cast doubt on or any other negativity toward Memphis East. I watched the East Hamilton game, a team from Chattanooga like myself, and was literally depressed because I have always wanted to see OR win State but East is such a beast. They play their style of ball flawlessly, are well coached, deep off the bench and not afraid of Tee or any other Wildcat.

Okay, I think I have gotten all of my thoughts and opinions out. Now my prediction is for a great game. I hope both teams play their best and stay injury free. Whoever wins will probably face a very good Southwind team.

Oh, I do have an old post I want to repost It will be in the Oak Ridge basketball folder. It compares Oak Ridge to Hickory, Ind, t like it but most of you will just LOL.

    • Began as a discussion, and evolved into a trainwreck...   Don't know how many of the TC "old guard" are left, but I feel for y'all.   Everybody has to get the last word... no matter the cost and sometimes the cost is high.
    • He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
    • Danny Wilson is the only one that come's to mind but I don't know where he is at now.
    • I am pro coach all day long but there are some knucklehead hires for sure.
