BlackHavenSenator
The bias on this board kills me but anyway... ME definitely Looks like a Nationally Ranked team. Southwind's guard play has kept them in the game so far. 44-33 less than a minute left in the 3rd

BlackHavenSenator
East and Southwind will meet in Saturday's AAA state championship game. Here's all you need to know to help you get set. AAA championship gameMatch-up: East (35-3) vs. Southwind (33-6) When, where: 1 p.m. at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State How to watch: WLMT-TV Channel 30; live streaming at www.nfhs.org. More:The CA Sports Awards tickets now on sale Vote now:I Am Sport Award, presented by Nike How they got here: East defeated East Hamilton, 76-56, defeated Oak Ridge, 63-60; Southwind defeated Murfreesboro Oakland, 59-40; defeated Independence, 83-71 Last meeting: East defeated Southwind, 73-62 in the Region 8 championship game on March 2 at Southwind. Starters: East, Alex Lomax (5-11 junior); T.J. Moss (6-4 junior); Jayden Hardaway (6-3 senior); Chandler Lawson (6-9 sophomore); Malcolm Dandridge (6-8 sophomore); Southwind, Mark Freeman (5-9 junior); Carlos Marshall (6-5 senior); Christian Jones (6-0 junior); Robert Boyd (6-6 senior); Kameron Jones (6-8 sophomore) How East will win: The Mustangs did a great job taking care of the ball against Oak Ridge, turning it over only seven times. They'll need a similar effort against Southwind, which can pressure defensively with the best of them. Lawson has had two excellent tournament games and Dandridge is starting to tap into his enormous potential; their size will give Southwind trouble. Lomax and Moss, despite being just juniors, are in their third straight tournament and their leadership and maturity will be crucial in what will be an intense contest. How Southwind will win: It's not reasonable to expect Southwind to shoot 62.5 percent of its shots like it did Friday but the Jaguars will have to find a way to make shots against the tall and athletic Mustangs. Marshall has been superb in the tournament (51 points in two games) and if he can knock down some mid-range shots early that will get Southwind's inside-out game going. Freeman will need to do well against East's pressure while Boyd and Kameron Jones will have to play big against East's bigs. Worth noting: East is playing for its eighth state title in school history; the Mustangs already have more than any other Tennessee school with seven. ... Southwind is 5-0 all-time in state tournament play; the Jaguars won the title in 2013 in their only other appearance. ... Marshall is averaging 29.3 points in his last three games; he scored 37 in the sub-state victory over Cordova. ... Lawson had a double-double in the quarterfinals (17 points, 12 rebounds) and missed by one (19, 9) against Oak Ridge. ... Saturday's game is the second all-Memphis AAA final in a row and third since 2012. East defeated Cordova last year while the Mustangs defeated Central in the 2012 final. Just for fun: Saturday's game will see three of the best nicknames in the city take the floor. East has a pair of valuable reserves in senior Radarious "Pig" Washington and Antavion "Dude" Collum, while Southwind will counter with 3-point specialist Christian "Corndog" Jones. On Friday, Jones said there was really no reason for his moniker, other than maybe boredom. "I was the only one on my sixth-grade team that didn't have one, so we just came up with Corndog. It came straight from the brain."
