osunut2
The season is past the halfway point, so here's a look at the 3-AAA standings: Powell (8-0, 12-5); district games remaining - Gibbs (x2), AC, Karns Gibbs (7-1, 13-3); Lost to Halls; district games remaining - Powell (x2), OR, Karns Karns (7-2, 12-8). Lost to Halls twice; district games remaining - AC, Powell, Gibbs Halls (6-3, 9-6). Lost to Powell twice, split with Central; district games remaining - OR, Clinton (x2) Anderson Co (4-5, 9-12); district games remaining - Karns, CC, Powell Oak Ridge (3-4, 8-9); district games remaining - Clinton (x2), Halls, Gibbs, Central Central (2-7, 4-10); district games remaining - CC (4/12), Clinton, OR Clinton (1-5, 10-13); district games remaining - Central, OR (x2), Halls (x2) Campbell Co (0-10, 2-15); district games remaining - Central (4/12), AC (x2) Pretty competitive district at the top this year. Top 4 should shuffle a bit over the next week or so, especially with Halls owning tie-breakers over Gibbs and Karns. Halls should win out, but Powell, Gibbs, and Karns still have to play one another; the battle for the regular season title is pretty wide open. HTV
Gibbs in the drivers seat at this point, having beaten Powell last night at Gibbs and tonight at Powell. Powell and Karns each have two losses now, and meet only once for the season - next Thursday on Senior night at Powell. Whoever wins that game controls its own destiny by having the head to head tie breaker for the #2 spot, and the right to play at home through the semifinals of the district tourney. 1 and 2 host and then the finals is played at the higher seed that is left. Whoever wins that game controls its own destiny by having the head to head tie breaker for the #2 spot, and the right to play at home through the semifinals of the district tourney. 1 and 2 host and then the finals is played at the higher seed that is left. I'll add on to HTV's update: Gibbs (9-1, 18-4); Lost to Halls; district games remaining - OR, Karns Powell (8-2, 13-8); swept by Gibbs; district games remaining - AC, Karns Karns (7-2, 14-8). Lost to Halls twice; district games remaining - AC, Powell, Gibbs Halls (6-3, 11-9). Lost to Powell twice, split with Central; district games remaining - OR, Clinton (x2) Oak Ridge (5-4, 11-10); district games remaining - Halls, Gibbs, Central Anderson Co (5-6, 11-13); district games remaining - Powell Central (4-7, 6-10); district games remaining - OR Clinton (1-8, 10-17); district games remaining - Halls (x2) Campbell Co (0-12, 2-18) Gibbs is in the driver's seat, after sweeping Powell. Powell, Karns, and Halls all have a shot at the #2 seed, I believe. If Powell or Karns win out, they lock up that coveted #2 seed. I can't remember the tie-breaker order in a 3-way tie, but if Halls wins out, Karns beat Powell but loses to Gibbs, all three would end up at 9-3 in district play. In that scenario, Powell swept Halls but lost to Karns, Karns beat Powell but was swept by Halls. If the first tie-breaker is head-to-head record, I think Powell wins in that scenario; Powell would be 2-1, Halls would be 2-2, and Karns would be 1-2. HTV, correct me if I'm wrong on that tie-breaking procedure.
osunut2
Here is a look at standings with less than a week to go: Gibbs (9-2, 19-5); Lost to Halls and Karns; district games remaining - OR Karns (9-2, 18-8). Lost to Halls twice; district games remaining - Powell Powell (8-2, 13-9); swept by Gibbs; district games remaining - AC, Karns Halls (8-3, 14-10). Lost to Powell twice, split with Central; district games remaining - Clinton Oak Ridge (6-5, 12-11); district games remaining - Gibbs Anderson Co (6-6, 12-14); district games remaining - Powell Central (4-8, 7-15) Clinton (1-10, 10-19); district games remaining - Halls Campbell Co (0-13, 2-19) Karns shutout Gibbs last night, which makes things interesting. If Karns beats Powell this week, they will clinch the #1 seed. If Gibbs takes care of Oak Ridge, they can finish no worse than 2nd. If Powell beats Karns and AC this week, they will finish no worse than 2nd. Halls can still clinch 2nd (assuming they take care of Clinton), if Gibbs loses to Oak Ridge and Karns loses to Powell. osunut2
After last night's games, here's another update. Gibbs shutout Oak Ridge (14-0), Powell pounded Anderson County (16-3), and Halls shutout Clinton (12-0). If Powell beats Karns tonight, Powell and Gibbs share the regular season crown. Gibbs is the 1-seed (host), Powell is 2nd (host), Halls is 3rd, Karns is 4th. If Karns beats Powell, Karns and Gibbs share the regular season crown. Karns is the 1-seed (host), Gibbs is 2nd (host), Powell is 3rd, Halls is 4th.

osunut2
Rain has wrecked havoc on the district schedule. Karns was able to get their game in versus Clinton (10-0 win). Halls-OR will take place Sunday @ 7:00. The games at Gibbs will be played on Sunday as well (Powell-AC @ 2:00, Gibbs- Central @ 4:30). Loser's bracket games will follow on Monday. HTV
Karns and Powell are the unbeatens at this point. Tonight at Gibbs, Gibbs plays Anderson County with the loser eliminated, and the winner taking on Powell in the second game. Tomorrow if necessary. Tonight at Karns, Oak Ridge plays Halls, with the loser being eliminated and the winner taking on Karns in the second game. Tomorrow if necessary. The winners of those two pods play one game for the championship on Thursday. One observation - the pitch limit rules have completely changed how pitchers are being used thus far in the district tourneys. . osunut2
Oak Ridge eliminates Halls and Gibbs takes out AC. In the upper bracket final, Karns defeats OR, punching their ticket in the final (and the region). In the lower bracket, Gibbs defeated Powell, so they'll have to play again today to see who will play Karns in the final. HTV
Whoever wins tonight gets to host Farragut, while the loser goes to Maryville. Neither is a piece of cake. Farragut is still Farragut, while Maryville is score a lot of runs. The Church kid - freshman for Maryville - is the real deal with a bat in his hand.
