2, 10 minute overtime periods tied at 3-3

2, Golden Ball 5 minute periods tied 3-3

Everyone was exhausted, too bad anyone had to lose. Both teams left it all on the field. A good soccer match.

 

On to girls season!

WH 1 - MLK 0

 

In a match that saw multiple cards (for one team), an ejection, and a player telling/showing everybody they were number one, shoving his coach, throwing water bottle onto the field and into the dugout, White House wins a squeaker.

 

Wow...

 

But, and I quote "what do you expect from a school full of incest loving cousin marrying people and

cheating referees."

The field runs east / west and the sun can be tough til about then.  It tucks behind trees/building about that time.

 

Or maybe, all of the cousin marrying has had its effect and we don't know any better (see above comments...LOL)

Of the (16) A/AA Region semi matches, 10 had a +1 margin of victory and at least 6 of those went to extra time or penalties.  4 were +2, and 2 were +3.  Doesn't look like there will be much of the winning soccer matches by touchdowns this May.

WH 5-2 over Hume Fogg

 

WH comes out and jumps all over HF and scores at 4', 12' (on one of the prettiest set pieces you will ever see) and has a golden opportunity to go up 3 at about 20' but failed to convert. HF composed themselves and netted a goal at about 28' and finished the half with some momentum. WH led 2-1 at the half.

 

Second half started much like the 1st half ended and HF got the equalizer at about 45' on a goal off a free kick muffed by the keeper. That seemed to reignite the WH side and at about 57' WH took a foul in the box and converted for a 3-2 lead. HF then began to press forward and WH punished them on counters until HF gave up an unfortunate own goal at 72'. WH got one more in the final minute to bring it to the final tally of 5-2.

Ehhh...Closer than 5-2 yes... 3-1 was about right though

 

It seemed like WH kinda let off the gas and got lazy after they cut them up for the first 20. But hey HF never gave up. They played hard all 80 minutes.  It just wasn't their night.  White House definitely erased the horrendous game they played on Monday night against MLK. Hopefully that performance doesn't have a repeat showing this season.

 

G, you guys need to win so we can keep the hopes alive for that Friday showdown a week from now.  Good luck tonight.
