Powell vs. Gibbs - Round #6

Two teams with a long softball history will continue their great series tonight in Murfreesboro. Powell won their 2 regular season matchups, Gibbs won the 2 district tourney games, including the district title matchup, and Powell won the "rubber match" for the region title. Winner of this one tonight clinches a spot in the state championship game.

 

Gibbs is looking to clinch their 13th title game berth (1983, 84, 86, 87, 88, 98, 99, 00, 03, 08, 12, 14) and their 10th state title (83, 84, 86, 87, 88, 98, 99, 00, 12); it would be their first AAA title.

 

Powell is looking to clinch their 3rd title game berth (1989, 91) and their 2nd state title (89); it would also be their first AAA title.

Two great teams/programs that deserve to be there!  Congrats to both for making it and good luck to both.  Region 2 and District 3 are very strong!
