Former SCS principal alleges academic scandal, corruption at AA FB Champion Trezevant High School

The district said the investigation is ongoing and will be done internally.

 

Not everyone was thrilled to hear that.

 

The investigation is ongoing but the district closed one grading discrepancy investigation earlier this year.

 

Principal Ronnie Mackin brought that to light as well. Multiple staff members were investigated, including Football Head Coach Teli White.

 

Only one employee was let go and formally disciplined, Secretary Shirley Quinn.

 

When investigators asked her to identify others who pressured her to change grades, she said, “I want to take the hit and be the fall guy.â€

 

When FOX13 reminded SCS of that quote today, they said they know the current allegations are serious and the investigation continues.

Trezevant doesn't deserve to have sports for 2 years. Cancel all sports programs for two years. White doesn't deserve to coach at his new landing spot. He had knowledge of what was going on and if he claims any different then it's false. That lady was paid a large sum of money to fall on the sword for everyone. By choosing to keep her mouth closed she is admitting guilt on the behalf of others. Cheaters should never prosper. How many crooked things must occur from one school before the TSSAA steps to the plate and draws a line in the sand.

 

This has been an issue in the past with Memphis City Schools also. I promise you all that if this were an issue at a rural county school system then it would have been addressed months ago. Those crooked "expletives" deserve to be called out.

If you question my opinion look at what happened to Cheatham County High School the last week of the regular season in 2016. They played a kid for two plays to reward him for his dedication and loyalty to the football program. Within an hour after the game had ended the TSSAA had already posted the final as a forfeit victory for the other team. We punish one school for an act of kindness and reward another school for criminal behavior.

If you question my opinion look at what happened to Cheatham County High School the last week of the regular season in 2016. They played a kid for two plays to reward him for his dedication and loyalty to the football program. Within an hour after the game had ended the TSSAA had already posted the final as a forfeit victory for the other team. Didn't  that issue involve a student athlete who was too old to play?

Yes. He was too old by 24 hours and could not play. His presence on the field for 2 snaps had zero impact on the outcome of the game. It was an act of generosity. Technically yes a rule was broken. Was it as blatant or bad as this? Not a chance in Hades.

He was too old to play before the season started.  If a student turns 19 on before August 1 they are ineligible to participate.  

 

Did the forfeit affect the playoff seeding?  I think it did as I recall.  Nice gesture but a rule was broken.  

 

My point is the school and the student knew the rule would have been broken as soon as he stepped on the field. Could have been the reason it was only done in the last game of the regular season.  Just my thoughts. Nothing more.

I agree with this totally.  These are some very serious accusations.

Well that was my point. I wasn't claiming that the other case was free of charges. I was saying that it was handled a lot more quickly than this has been/will be at the end of the day.

Well, it was self reported by the school themselves using an ineligible player.  Wasn't much for the TSSAA to act upon but forfeiture of a game.  School knew before hand and reported right away.  If TSSAA doesn't get involved with allegiations as serious as what is going on at Trezevant and possibly other Shelby County schools then what role or mission do they serve?
