Mercy rule

Recommended Posts

Saw that the TSSAA has an item on the June board of control agenda to discuss a mercy rule for soccer. Does any one have information. On what the rule might be that they are discussing?

Basically instead of a running clock mercy rule. It would be a Game Ending Mercy Rule. Lets say its 6-0 half then its game over. I think its about time.

19. Approved a Mercy Rule for TSSAA Girls’ Soccer/Soccer

The clock shall run continuously except for heat time outs and injuries once a 5-goal differential has been established. The clock will continue to run for the remainder of the game if the goal differential falls below 5. If a 9-goal differential has been reached at halftime or at any time during the 2nd half, the game shall be terminated.

I truly hope that this is enforced everywhere.
