Weren't scared to play the privates...just couldn't afford to have district games in Nashville and Memphis for the non-revenue sports.

You guys would have made alot of money in gates in playing MBA and Brentwood academy etc ... but cant blame you for not wanting to play the big boys  ..

Maybe...assuming they travel well but you're only talking 4-5 home games. Is that enough to offset the cost of sending volleyball, baseball, softball, tennis, golf, track, basketball. soccer, et al. to Nashville and Memphis. Complicate the problem by trying to find publics to play locally to round out your schedule when Webb and CAK refuse to play us.

Catholic is playing Brentwood Academy in the regular season in Knoxville along with playing Baylor 2nd week. Its not a matter of not wanting to play the Big Boys, Its a matter of CAK and Webb not wanting to play Catholic. Crazy to me that those schools are within walking distance of each other and doesn't play each other.

Tadvols always comes on here and bashes Catholic anyway he can.  Catholic is scared to play the privates or Catholic recruits players from Indiana(very ignorant). Just ignore his asinine remarks.  And yes Tadvols we play BA and Baylor this year. We are so scared of them.

Tadvols isn't as bad as most. He has a good grip on the Falcons strengths and weaknesses and calls it as he sees it. He realizes that the Falcons have several out of zone players every year so he can't cast too many stones. They don't do anything illegal but take full advantage of every loophole. He just needs to be reminded every few months why we didn't join the privates. His short term memory isn't what it used to be. LOL Several of these schools should be thankful that we didn't go private because as much as we are accused of recruiting, it would have really turned up if we were able to do so. We've got  a pretty strong program with a former NFL QB as our head coach, great facilities, plenty of exposure to college programs. Who wouldn't want to play in a fast paced, exciting program that showcases their skillset and is cranking out D1 players???

I think one of the reasons that both Webb and CAK quit playing us is that they realized they wouldn't be very competitive with us and they would lose potential rising players when they were looking at the best potential program for their kids long term college prospects.

LOL .. yea u playing Brentwood and Baylor .. but not in playoff format ... and yes you playing them cause local  Privates dont  want to play  a Private school who was the only Private in TN to not play Private class  ... better watch how the money is being dished out to the kids who parents cant afford the tuition ... ;)

I agree it would be tough travel for non revenue but ALL the other privates do it .. what should happen is that Privates play local public schools in regular seasons but when playoff time comes they play other Private schools .. that way it would be fair to the publics .. who are playing other publics for championships .. and all the privates make playoffs and play each other ....

KC must have the money covered up pretty good .. I know some of the families from kids recruited in ... tuition payments from them ... well lets just say ... no way they afford that .. just sayin .... but its coming from somewhere ... ;) ... so if they are giving money in any way shape or form .. they HAVE to play PRIVATE class. But I would never turn in a kid .. would never hurt his eligibility ... its not that important ... take care .. good luck ... 5A is KC to loose ... just like last year ... dont get bit in playoffs.

Webb and CAK don't want to play us because we killed them the last time we played. We put up 77 vs. CAK and several players left Webb to come to Catholic which didn't go over very well but why play in an antiquated system like the Wing T if you want to ready for the next level as a lineman (Cade Mayes and brother) or a passing QB? If you watched all 3 teams play it would be pretty obvious where you should send your middle school athlete.

We are the only private that would have been in the large division. The "local" privates are all in the small division so they can have plenty of privates to play without traveling to Memphis, Nashville or Chattanooga.

They are not the only private to stay in the public school division. TCA in 2A stayed. there may be others. Not sure.

If the Falcons can find some lineman and stay healthy, we will have every opportunity to compete for the 5A crown! We are pretty set at the skill positions. The loss of DM will hurt us some but these Falcons are not down and out. Fun to see them throw the ball around yesterday.
