I have seen CA play and we played Waverly , unless CA has improved 10 fold since the first of the season, Waverly will be CA by 2 TD's IMO. Waverly has a much better D than people on here are giving them credit for.

CA is a much much better team than at the beginning of the year. If they had the same team at the beginning of the year that they have now they’d be 9-0. They have added multiple new players throughout the season who have been game changers for us.

Riverside is nothing to laugh about. They are very talented. Big and fast. Better buckle that chin strap is all I got to say.

Not gonna say they are something to joke about. But you do not seem to know what you are talking about so I thought that was funny. I’m not gonna sit here and claim we’re gonna go win state, but anybody who thinks that CA is gonna be an easy out is full of themselves.

You know your football. I've seen them both years. That's exactly what I see. They were a better overall team last season because of the good defense. The defense isn't bad this year, but not like last season. Offensively they have a lot of weapons.

Just what I've been thinking all year. Offensively they weren't as good last year, but they could score more than their stingy defense would give up. Scotts Hill only gave up 19 to them in the quarters, but we only managed to score 14 and our offense was potent.

The QB isn't your normal 2A QB either. You don't get many like him. He has a lot of good interest already as well. The top receiver is also a good one. The others aren't bad by any means, but your top dog is scary. Also you're right about the RB. He's tough!

I have contemplated this a lot this year. I think Waverly has the top 3 offensive players we have seen this year. I also happen to think that little bubba is the best hs QB that I have had the pleasure to see "live" and I'm an old head.

I have to agree with the QB statement. He sits in the pocket eyes down field, great footwork, and is extremely accurate. This kid will definitely be playing at the next level. He is also the best true QB I have seen at this level. You would always hear about Rice at Wayne county but I never had the pleasure of seeing that kid. How would you compare the two?

I happen to know the game very well my friend and I have seen some great teams in my time. I'm not trying to say .CA ain't worth a hoot but I do know that Riverside is going to be tough for anybody in the playoffs and very much deserves to be in the top ten.

    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
