With all the talk about Alcoa being down this year, I decided to run some numbers over the last 5 years.

Against 3A competition :

2013  Alcoa averaged 50.6 ppg and opp averaged 10.6.  point diff= 40

2014 Alcoa averaged 38 ppg and opp averaged 12.3   point diff = 25.7

2015 Alcoa averaged 36.9ppg and opp averaged 5.7  point diff = 31.2

2016 Alcoa averaged 40.63 ppg and opp averaged 8.27  point diff= 32.36

2017 Alcoa averaged 40.27 ppg and opp averaged 6.1  point Diff= 34.17

Just thought it was interesting

Who was it who was saying Alcoa was down this year ?

Maryville would of never won State this year if the Defense hadn't improved so much . It seemed like the Ooltewah game was the Maryville defense's low point and after that they just got better and better . I agree totally BC , Defense does win the Championships , Congrats to Alcoa once again .

Yea, Alcoa's offensive line was a lot like Maryville's defense. Each and every game it got better and better.

Both improved in leaps and bounds!

I was not sure after Alcoa and Maryville lost early that either team would get it done. Great coachingfor both teams got it done!:thumb:

If OL was the area of emphasis for Alcoa to replace heading into the 2017 season then the only area that they'll lose significant starters to graduation heading into 2018 will be LB (#s 23, 40, and 4).

Your fans expect good things every year and most years they get it.I remember how mad several were in the first half  over there where I was at during the DB game. That ended up being a classic for Alcoa and just a great game to watch as a fan.

I have a feeling Alcoa will be one of the better teams in any class next year. They looked really young in Cookeville.

Yes,Alcoa was very young team. Four freshman starters in the championship game.

Going into next season, Seniors #23,#21,#40 & #4 will be big loses on defense. Great players.

Freshman defensive starters #98,#12,&#15 will return even better next season. Freshman players #7 & #42 may find more playing time at LB with #30. #33 will be back from injury and will be a big part of the defense.

Not as many holes to fill on the offensive side. Alcoa will be loaded in the backfield and should have an even better passing game next season.

    • I think the OC is a guy the he brought from Fulton with him. I am not sure though. I have heard a lot of conflicting information. It seems like a couple of coaches that he hired have since been let go.

    • If someone needed their grades pumped up surley it would have to be for someone needing it to get to another level. If your intending on going to work right after high school it wouldn't matter. Why would someone in their right mind think if they screwed it up in high school that their ready for college. It has to be for an athlete to get them over the fence to get in and from that point the school their going to will cheat them through the rest of the way for their athletic skills just like the rest.
    • The new school will be on that road behind Home Depot next to a church. I'm wondering if this could take from Greenback or could it be the end of Greenback, they only have 200 students.
    • Yeah it will take the county kids in that area that were going to lenior city. They will move down to 4a I think
