Three days of non competitive games

Said this on other threads.  Feel the bracket should be flipped each week of playoffs.  This would strengthen games.  For example, last year Alcoa had a strong district.  Their district eliminated each other, with the exception being Elizabethton.  This allowed Sequatchie County to cruise into the elite 8.  Not putting down the year that they had, but I feel they would have been eliminated earlier with a flip.  This would also tell you a more true championship game, if two east teams faced two West in the semi's.

This is just like every other aspect of society.......  Schools with multiple Valedictorians, participation awards, co-chairs, co-coordinators, multiple first place finishers all in the name of not hurting someone's feelings, or better yet, because so and so has deep pockets and this is what they suggested!  KMA!!!!!!!!!

I watched all but the privates play, well I watched one private play on Thursday at the 7 PM game.  All that to say, I saw some good football teams, but the overall quality of football was at best, slightly above average.

Straight forward look at an issue. Very few parents want to see their child come in second. And I'm almost sure some of these parents wii let the tssaa knows this thru their lawyers. Can you imagine the noise if a student/athletes were not allowed to cross a school zone to attend an "opportunity school".

We have more Divisions than Florida and Georgia , who have many more people !! I wish we would just throw everybody back together and have 4 , at the most 5 Classes , I think the overall play would improve , make the Gold balls even more precious ! I understand there's a lot of people who want the Privates separate , and if we do that 2 classes for Private , 4 for Public ! 9 With our Population is ridiculous

Having lived in FL for 7 years, championships are rare indeed.  Very possible to dominate your area of the state and get killed in the 2nd round of the playoffs when you play the best team from the next region over.  It's pretty brutal.

If you swapped brackets, in a particular year the matchup may be worse. It could help for individual games here and there.

To strengthen the competition among each class, it would take a big step like cutting back the number of classes (5 and 2 was mentioned), putting back the private schools starting with MBA etc in 6A, or the least likely, classification based on success. If done properly where no team could go up or down more than 2 classes-example Alcoa could only go to 5A, Warren only down to 4A, it could work but not enough would give it a shot probably.

Agree with HTV, 4 public and 2 private classes, 6 Champs is plenty.  Going to Georgia games this coming Saturday, they only have 8 champions.  Class A public, Class A private, then 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A and they have more total schools than does Tennessee.  They divide the state into 4 quadrants.  In theory, there could be 2 teams from the same region playing for the State Championship, KINDA LIKE FBS PLAYOFFS.

Nope. Got to completely split the public and privates come playoff time.

4 public, 2 private divisions would be a doable number.

But it will never happen.  Too much revenue would be lost.

All I can add to this is to also eliminate at least one round of the playoffs.

And you are right. The T$$AA will not hear of this. I believe they value revenue over quality.

This is off topic but I would like to know if schools in the playoffs (especially schools that traveled for the first round) made money, broke even, or lost money for this experience.

Been told by several ADs that the visiting team actually comes out better in most cases.  They have a bus bill and a meal or two to take care of and that's pretty much it for expenses.

The home team has to take care of normal home game expenses (gate workers, security, etc.) out of their take.

But if either breaks even, again from what I have been told, they are fortunate.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
