Neither many high school nor club coaches do a good enough job in explaining to their players how different and important college and one's college choice is. It would be interesting to see the percentage of commitments who ultimately graduate from their college of choice. I have heard figures in the 25-30% range. IMO clubs and club coaches need to work harder for the kids to find the right spot. It really boils down to parents and the players contacting college coaches then going through their process. The clubs need to help the kids and be very active in the process. Its not difficult for each club coach to get with the 18 players on their team and figure out what their top 10 or top 5 schools are. Helping the families through this process should be part of the enormous fee being paid to these clubs. The clubs sure as heck use game results to promote themselves so why not help each player with some sort of detailed structured process? One club that does just thie is BUSA. They do a great job working with the families and even their website is geared to helping the recruiting process.

Like in the movie miracle, it isn't the "best players" that make the best teams. It is the RIGHT players. By the way Simon told me in Knoxville a few weeks ago the opposite of your post. He had some key players that were "his" to make his run. Just an FYI.
