The only person responsible for team's success or failure is the head coach. He is the only person that gets the win or loss.  Base anyone's real value as a coach to their own record as a head coach. If they are an assistant that is what they are an assist at best.

This is not true. There are many responsible for a teams success or failure. Administrative support, parent/community involvement, player by-in and good quality assistants all doing their job and working hard make a successful program. If you just have a good head coach without the rest of these the ship is sunk.

That is an absolute odd take? You give assistant coaches zero value?

You just lost all credibility with this one coach. Can't see the forest for the trees.

Exactly! Some coaches are never head coaches. But I know a few great assistants that can be brought in to any program as a hired gun and make a good team great and a great team special.

Not saying zero value, just saying the head coach runs the show. most teams are a direct reflection of head coach's philosophy, organization, leadership,  and discipline.
