A banner 2011 campaign ended in rough fashion for the Lodi High girls tennis team, as the Flames were swept, 9-0 by six-time defending champion St. Francis in Wednesday’s Sac-Joaquin Section Division I semifinal at Natomas.
Lodi’s run to the semis was the team’s first since 2007.
In singles play, Audrey Simon dropped a 1-6, 0-6 match to Jessica Josiah, Taylor Barajas lost 2-6, 1-6 to Monica Yassear and Macy Barajas was thumped by Annie Sompayrac, 4-6, 3-6. Mikayla Kidd suffered a 2-6, 2-6 defeat against Ashlyn Schmitgen, Julia Baffoni lost 1-6, 1-6 to Tessa Sandoval and Raeni Sroufe was beaten 4-6, 1-6 by Kendall Spector.
In doubles play: Citlalli Lizarraga and Mia Sahli fell 1-6, 1-6 to Annie Randle and Katie Enos, Sam Smith and Mari Tassano lost 2-6, 0-6 to Anna Kropf and Jane Sadler, and Kylie Denton and Holly Fyffe dropped a 0-6, 0-6 decision to Emma Keene and Michelle Fat.
