Volleyball Regional Roundup: Creekside keeps on going

Creekside has made its first trip to the volleyball postseason a long one.

The Knights earned a spot in Saturday's Region 2-5A championship with a 25-15, 25-20, 27-29, 25-21 victory over visiting Gainesville Eastside (15-13) on Tuesday.

Embry-Riddle-bound middle blocker Erika Hinel had 13 kills and six aces for Creekside (23-5).

Florida International commit Hayley Miller had 24 digs and Emily Fox had 29 assists.

Creekside will host Brooksville Nature Coast Tech on Saturday.

Region 1-5A: Bishop Kenny defeated Ponte Vedra (24-2) in four games to advance to the Region 1-5A final at Gulf Breeze on Saturday at 7 p.m. Junior Candace Coyle led the Crusaders (23-6) with 12 service points and seven aces and senior libero Carolyn Elmore had 23 digs. Ponte Vedra libero Kristen Such had 19 digs and Rachel Halim had 18 assists.

Region 1-4A: Bolles advanced to the Region 1-4A final, defeating visiting Fernandina Beach 25-15, 25-20, 25-21. Gabby Mallette had 19 kills and two aces for the Bulldogs (22-7), who travel to face Pensacola Catholic on Saturday.

Region 2-1A: Union County (19-7) advanced to the regional championship with a 3-2 victory over visiting Pierson Taylor (19-8). Union County will host Crescent City at 7 p.m. Saturday for a trip to the final four.

Elsewhere: Orange Park (16-10) fell to host Tallahassee Leon (20-9) in straight games in the Region 1-6A semifinals. … Tallahassee Maclay (26-3) ended Providence's season in the Region 1-3A semifinals with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Stallions (15-12).
